Description
SUMMARY
The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for ensuring that food products meet standards set by the company, our customers, and regulatory authorities. May review quality and safety policies and manage audits by third party inspectors.
Facilitate, monitor, and control the plant quality assurance procedures/policies while helping to solve production issues with appropriate CAPA. Below is the detailed list of responsibilities.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible to take action and get involvement from senior management on reportable food safety and quality issues as deemed appropriate.
  • Development, enhancement, implementation, and drafting of all food safety and quality system policies and procedures.
  • Develops, executes, and reports on KPIs.
  • Oversight of quality personnel.
  • Full engagement of day-to-day activities in the plant, including but not limited to scheduling of staffing, coverage for a 24/7 plant operation, problem solving, etc.
  • Departmental staffing which includes the hiring and dismissal of associates.
  • HACCP leader of multi-disciplinary team to maintain current plans, revise existing, and improve based on industry development.
  • Provide guidance for the disposition of non-conforming goods but utilizing internal resources for safe quality outcome.
  • Oversight of customer complaints and provide corrective action or root cause analysis for any non- conformities outside of documented specifications.
  • Lead all GFSI, customer or regulatory visits/audits.
  • Liaison for customer requests, complaints, questionnaires, and audits.
  • Manage budgetary goals established for fiscal year. Ensures departments stay on target for the approved budget.
  • Involvement in any day-to-day production inquiries.
  • Coordinate any contracted services for the department, laboratories, PCO, etc.
  • Schedule and drive completion of mock recalls on an as needed basis.
  • Cover for QA staff and assist in departmental activities as needed.
  • Participate in quality trainings for the department including but not limited to allergen control, GMP, metal detection, etc.
  • Coordinate with engineering review of equipment, and policy related to projects and contractor activity.
  • Responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of the Gluten Program.
  • Alternate contact with GFCO for all matters related to certification.
  • Walk the facility on a daily basis to ensure adherence to FSQP.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Quality.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
  • 5 years of increasing responsibility in quality role in food manufacturing environment. Previous management or supervisory experience is a must.
  • BS in food related discipline, such as food science, or a degree in biological sciences, nutrition, or related field required, or else equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • SQF Practitioner
  • Excellent knowledge of regulations and requirements (FDA/GFSI/FSMA)
  • Proficient in Microsoft office products.
  • Proven leadership abilities.
  • Co-manufacturing experience.
  • Interpersonal and team skills for working with employees at all levels within the company.
  • Advanced knowledge in accordance with food safety and personal safety policies.
  • Efficient time management and communication skills.
  • Ability to solve or seek out answers in order to provide guidance on quality and food safety matters.
  • Identification and resolution to food safety/quality issues.
  • Ability to articulate complex food safety regulations in simple, focused style to upper management.
  • High level of strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborate successfully with cross functional teams in fast paced packaging environment.
  • Flexible and positive in fast paced manufacturing environment.
  • Effectively manage priorities and deadlines.
  • Physical requirements: Sufficient mobility, strength, flexibility, hearing, and sight to perform all job relevant tasks.

  • All GNC Safety Training Required
  • ALL GNC Production as Required
  • Certified in HACCP and / or PCQI
  • Internal Auditor Certified
  • SQF Practitioner Preferred
  • All GNC HR Policies
