Georgia Military College is now accepting applications for a Director of Advancement. This position assists the Associate Vice President of Advancement with coordination and executing fundraising, grant research and writing, donor research and cultivation, and planned giving.

SCOPE AND EFFECT:

Fundraising is critical to the mission of GMC. This position is responsible for the research, planning, and implementation of fundraising programs including; grant and proposal writing, donor acquisition, on-campus fundraising, etc. The success of this position strengthens the future of GMC. The work involves formulating projects, strategic planning, and evaluating effectiveness.

MAJOR DUTIES:

• Coordinate fundraising efforts for the school from a diverse range of donors and prospects.
• Develop a prospects management plan for the foundation to include appropriate donor research.
• Utilize data in Raiser's Edge to develop strategies for increasing donor engagement, increasing philanthropic giving, and broadening the donor base to the college and the college foundation.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with donors and potential donors through written and verbal communication and personal visits.
• Develop marketing and communication strategies for individual and corporate donors and work with the Department of Communications to implement them.
• Determine fundraising focus areas, including major giving, planned giving, and annual giving in collaboration with team members.
• Compose and update annual solicitation and acknowledgment letters.
• Act as liaison between the faculty, staff, and development office for fundraising purposes.
• Assist in the coordination of special events for Advancement and Alumni Relations.
• Design and implement a Reunion Class giving program. Ensure the coordination of the program each year during Alumni Weekend.
• Assist AVP with grant writer on proposals for approval and submission.
• Design, implement, and maintain a tracking and award system for proposals and grant submissions.
• Assist AVP for Advancement in developing and implementing specific and regular stewardship efforts for special groups (i.e. named/endowed fund donors, alumni donors, Oak Leaf Society, Lifetime Giving club, etc.)
• Other duties as assigned by the President or Vice President for Development.

• Bachelor's degree
• Excellent verbal & written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills

Preferred: 

• 5 years of fundraising experience
