George's Distributing is Hiring a Market Manager Near Billings, MT

George's Distributing, a family owned Montana company, is seeking a Market Manager to be the ambassador for all things Beer, Wine, & Cider in the greater Billings area. The focus of this position will be selling the best craft beer, wine, sake, and cider portfolio in the state.

Market Manager

Reports To: General Manager

Job Summary: Market Managers serve as a bridge between our home office and management team and our regional teams. They use their extensive product and industry knowledge and experience to empower and support their sales team to drive revenue growth and deliver best in class service. Market managers maintain and manage customer relationships and facilitate efficient sales operations within their territory. They assist with devising sales strategies, analyzing data, addressing customer concerns, and identifying sales opportunities. Market managers are excellent communicators and strong leaders. They lead by example and help with all aspects of the sales cycle in their territories.

Job Functions and Responsibilities

Sales Management (70% of Time)

  • Visits customers on a rotating and regular basis, maintaining a strong working relationship, excellent customer service, and identifying new sales opportunities alongside sales representatives.
  • Prospects, qualifies, and opens new customers alongside sales reps within existing territory.
  • Provides direct leadership and guidance to sales and service team leaders.
  • Creates strategic sales plans and assists with sales goal target creation.
  • Optimizes sales routes and account assignments.
  • Develops plans to close sales gaps.
  • Conducts regular product demonstrations and builds brands.
  • Resolves customer complaints.
  • Coordinates resets and other special projects.
  • Plans and executes events with accounts and sales reps as appropriate.
  • Merchandises as necessary and ensures merchandising and delivery standards are upheld in accounts.
  • Assists with chain execution and enforces execution standards.
  • Coordinates and assists with supplier visits, resets, key presentations, sales meetings, etc.

People Management (20% of Time)

  • Trains, mentors, develops, and coaches sales reps in their assigned territory.
  • Conducts regular ride alongs with sales reps and other team members as appropriate.
  • Establishes and maintains professional and friendly relationships with other internal stakeholders and customers to drive sales velocity, customer satisfaction, and employee retention and satisfaction.
  • Helps with resource allocation and planning as needed.
  • Conducts regular reviews with sales representatives.
  • Mentors sales reps in product knowledge through specific training.

Miscellaneous (10% of Time)

  • Other tasks as deemed necessary and appropriate by manager.

KSA’s (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)

  • Presents self in a highly professional manner to others and understands that honesty and ethics are essential.
  • Ability to communicate clearly efficiently, and professionally with co-workers and customers with professionalism and respect.
  • Strong knowledge of sales process and proven track record of increasing sales.
  • Valid Driver’s License and Clean Driving Record.
  • Strong computer and mobile knowledge and capability to learn and adapt to new systems.
  • Ability to reach, bend, push, pull, and frequently lift 40-50 pounds and up to 150 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time and significant amounts of walking.
  • Ability to work in inclement and variable weather.
  • Ability to drive for extended periods of time.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Robust knowledge of and experience in the beverage industry.
