About the Position:

As we grow, we need someone who will lead in creating scalable, repeatable engineering teams for tackling tough, cutting-edge software product challenges.

The Director of Engineering will collaborate directly with the CTO to form strategies for team and technical leadership within the company. Your primary responsibility will be to lead a high performing engineering culture with high quality output, high customer satisfaction and high employee satisfaction.

The Director of Engineering is also a billable position. You will be working directly with our tightly knit engineering teams to design and develop software solutions to bring our clients’ projects to life. As consultants, everyone on the team works closely with each other as well as with our client’s stakeholders to deliver solutions to their business needs on time and on budget.

Your Contribution:

As the Director of Engineering you will be closely collaborating with the CTO and others across the company to achieve your goals. With the support of those collaborators you will be accountable for the following:

• Engineering Culture Leadership
  • Recruit excellent people who are additive to our culture
  • Empower our engineers to do their best work
  • Evangelize best practices
  • Create a culture of growth
• Consulting Culture Leadership
  • Consulting in prospective, qualified client meetings
  • Help create and vet sales proposals
  • Collaborate in resourcing the right people for each project.
  • Monitor and participate in active projects to ensure customer satisfaction
• Project Contributor
  • Approximately half of your time will be billable on projects.
  • Can be a mix of strategic oversight and consulting as well as individual contributor work
• IT, Compliance and Security Oversight
  • Manage, collaborate and delegate to ensure GenUI’s technical operations and systems meet compliance and security requirements.

  • The engineering team is ultimately responsible for the quality of our technical delivery for clients. The Director of Engineering is ultimately responsible for the engineering team’s performance.

  • Our people are everything to us. We work very hard to recruit and retain the best, most satisfied tallent so we can deliver the best possible work for our customers. The Director of Engineering plays a pivotal role in all these processes.

Your Experience:

• 10 years software engineering experience including planning, designing, developing and delivering software
• 10 years management experience in a software development organization
• Managing multiple teams delivering on multiple projects simultaneously
• Active technology consulting to discover effective client solutions
• Lead architect on at least two substantial projects
• Expertise in two or more languages (e.g. Python, Elixir, JavaScript, Ruby, PHP, Go, Rust, CPP, C#, Java or Swift)
• High-EQ training and experience (e.g. Non-Violent Communication)
• Solid foundational knowledge of Computer Science and Software Engineering taught in a computer science degree or equivalent (e.g. modular design, algorithms, Big-O)
