POSITION SUMMARY: Provide overall management direction for existing projects and develop new business opportunities relative to a particular client, group of clients, geographical area or type of project.

DUTIES:

  • The project manager is responsible to manage and review estimates and assigned construction projects.
  • Mentor and train construction interns, project engineers, and field engineers and monitor their training and certification.
  • Maintain recruiting, hiring, promotion, and corrective action.
  • Project, organize, and implement project budgets and work under contract.
  • Work to resolve procedures, complaints and construction issues.
  • Monitor and control project to ensure it is completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Formulate reports concerning work progress, costs, and scheduling.
  • Represent company in project meetings, initiate and maintain liaison with client and A/E contacts, to facilitate construction activities.
  • Review, understand, and adhere to all union contracts.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent work experience.
  • Five years of progressive estimating and project management experience.
  • Experience in management and road construction materials.
  • Ability to organize all aspects of the project, including analyze financial information and foresee and resolve project conflicts.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/SAFETY:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

  • Sitting: 50% of time
  • Standing: 50% of time
  • Driving: Position requires driving to jobsites, and Geneva Rock offices. Company vehicle provided.
  • Weight Lifted: Must frequently be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Physical Movement: May frequently be required to walk over uneven ground, balance, stoop/crouch, kneel, grab and hold objects such as surveying equipment and other equipment as needed.
  • Speaking / Listening: Needs to be able to communicate well with customers, dispatch, supervision, receive and follow instructions, and understand safety requirements.
  • Working Conditions: 25% of time will be spent working outside in the elements.
