ABOUT THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE PROGRAM AT GENESEE COMMUNITY COLLEGE:
Genesee Community College's Criminal Justice Program strives to prepare the foundations needed for multiple Criminal Justice professional pathways. Students experience academic coursework that delves into preparation for careers in a growing field. Graduates go on to seek work that is exciting, fulfilling and offers the opportunity to help others on a daily basis. Preserving law and order, working to help bring criminals to justice every day, curbing violence and maintaining the safety of communities and citizens are all cornerstones of this program.
GENERAL FUNCTIONS:
Teach courses in the Criminal Justice programs. Participate in the development, review, assessment and maintenance of the criminal justice and other related curricula. Assist in the recruitment, retention, and graduation of students in these programs. Participate actively in the academic life of the institution and other college and division efforts.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
A Master's degree in Criminal Justice or related field, with two (2) years of collegiate teaching experience. Expertise, specifically, in policing and knowledge of public safety/emergency technologies is required. Must be able to demonstrate sensitivity to diverse people in the broadest sense. Must be able to work effectively with community college students, faculty and staff, and area criminal justice professionals. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are required.
Preferred
Familiarity with computer-assisted/multimedia instruction and distance learning (such as synchronous, asynchronous and hybrid) is preferred. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for teaching and learning, a positive attitude, and a willingness to embrace technology. This person will strive to create and maintain personal connections with students and the college community. They must be a friendly, enthusiastic team player with a strong work ethic who contributes to Genesee's supportive community, and is dedicated to effective innovative strategies for student success.
RELATIONSHIPS:
This position reports to the Director of Human Service Careers and Education. The faculty member works cooperatively with full-time and adjunct faculty and staff in Criminal Justice, and related programs and other areas within the College.
SALARY AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a full-time position at 35 hours per week and is compensated at a rate of $49,867.89 annually. Salary, benefits, and conditions of employment are as set by the GEA contract.
