Job Summary :

The position of Accounts Receivable Specialist in Medical Billing is responsible for insurance follow u, claims appeals, working denials, payment posting, and various claims processing tasks.

The Accounts Receivable Specialist will report to the Business Office Manager and be part of an outstanding central billing team.

Supervisory Responsibility :

Supervises the following positions : None

Position Qualifications :

High school diploma

Minimum three years medical billing or equivalent experience required

Ohio Behavioral Health Redesign experience preferred

Key Responsibilities / Job Accountabilities :

• Understanding of insurance, Medicare, Medicaid and HMO, and private insurance billing procedures and general practices of verification and eligibility
• Review and process outstanding third party payer Accounts Receivable
• Completion of necessary claim appeal related to denials and short payments
• Keeps supervisor informed of progress / problems
• Ability to communicate daily with insurance carriers, patients, office staff, other third parties to collect outstanding balances due, resolve denials, and general non payment issues.
• Perform all necessary duties to successfully secure payment and close a claim
• Critical thinking skills, attention to detail
• Prepares report as needed.
• Possess ability to deal tactfully and courteous in any situation communicating well, verbally and in writing.
• Foster a professional working relationship and communicates professionally with all medical staff, interdisciplinary team, leadership, insurance companies, hospitals, and with all external professional groups and agencies.
• Maintain current knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements

• Possess strong analytical and technical skills to review, prepare, and interpret reports and related material and make logical recommendations.
• Proficient computer skills, word, excel, outlook and billing software
• Ability to multi task, critically think, and attention to detail.
• Manages difficult customer situations
• Excellent oral and written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
• Ability to identify and resolve issues efficiently and effectively
• Maintain and efficient organized work environment
