The Role:

We are seeking to expand the Generate:Biomedicines Therapeutic Research team by recruiting a Director of Infectious Disease. The successful candidate will lead a team of scientists to advance infectious disease therapeutics portfolio and unlock novel biology. We are searching for an innovative and highly motivated individual who is comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. A successful candidate will have extensive experience guiding therapeutic research, including direct experience with discovery and development, regulatory filings and translating therapeutics to the clinic. The candidate should have a sustained record of scientific achievements, strategic thinking and be a thoughtful people and project leader.

Here's how you will contribute:

• Be a thoughtful and creative leader of infectious disease therapeutic research that includes a growing team of scientists.
• Be a strategic thought partner in development of therapeutics from ideation of a therapeutic hypothesis through clinical development.
• Be a cross-functional program lead on fast paced therapeutic programs.
• Identify and advance new opportunities, targets, and modalities and be an expert resource to guide business development opportunities.
• Partner across with computational sciences, protein sciences, commercial, and clinical to develop and execute on novel therapeutics and biobetters.
• Lead a team of highly skilled Scientists and support their scientific and career development.

The Ideal Candidate will have:

• Ph.D. in Immunology, Virology or related field with 12 years of strategic experience conceptualizing and leading therapeutic research projects. Prior experience in the biotech industry is required.
• Proven scientific leadership on therapeutic product teams required.
• Extensive experience as an outstanding research leader and collaborator, a creative problem-solver, and a role model for direct reports and peers.
• Proven track record in advancing and supporting INDs and clinical development programs as an effective collaborator with clinical and translational sciences colleagues. Deep knowledge of preclinical studies required for regulatory filings and clinical translation and direct experience with regulatory agencies required.
• Experience with protein-based therapies, preclinical infectious disease models, immunological techniques, and cell biology.
• Familiarity with vaccine antigen design is a plus.
• Familiarity with computational and/or protein engineering techniques is a plus.
• Ability to parallel process multiple projects and modalities and guide the growing portfolio.
• Growth mindset and desire to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
