JOB PURPOSE OR MISSION: Assumes lead responsibility for a shift in assigned work areas; monitors work activity; participates in a variety of food production and/or food service tasks which follow standard practices of the department; makes decisions in accordance with instructions and established standards. Performs job appropriately for the age population served, as defined in the department’s scope of service.
JOB FUNCTIONSESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include, but are not limited to:1. Coordinates kitchen service activities, and supervises assigned staff.PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:• Ensures the proper distribution of assignments for performance of duties;• Supervises the handling, preparation and serving of food in accordance with sanitation regulations;• Observes and supervises the work performance of employees to ensure adherence to established standards;• Supervises dietary software and produces patient tickets and tally sheets for cooks;• Supervises the cleaning and maintenance of assigned work areas and equipment; and • Trains new employees as assigned, and assists with orientation of new employees.2. Oversees the delivery of food to the patient units. PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:• Supervises employees on tray line preparing patient trays;• Inspects trays for attractiveness, palatability, and temperature of food;• Checks menus, marks trays to be held, and makes necessary substitutions and changes; and• Coordinates loading, delivery, and pickup of food carts on schedule.
3. Monitors established procedures and methods for kitchen service unit.PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:• Inspects assigned areas to observe operations and to ensure proper functioning of equipment;• Monitors activities of assigned personnel in regards to job performance and compliance with standards; and• Inspects each workstation at the end of the shift to ensure that each station is in satisfactory condition for the next shift.4. Performs all other duties as assigned.
