SUMMARY
Provides emergency medical response as a first responder. Responds to all fires for fire suppression. Responds to hazardous material spills. Responds to rescues as a rescue team member. Provides fire protection and prevention up to par with all local regulations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work occurs in both an outdoor shipyard environment and in an office setting. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus. Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writing.Requires ability to commute physically to various areas of the shipyard including but not limited to shipboard activities. Must be capable of ascending/descending stairs or ladders, walking on uneven surfaces, and transiting through manholes and other confined, congested spaces. Physical dexterity must allow for bending and reaching. Must remain alert and comply with all safety requirements. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is exposed occasionally to dust, fumes, and smoke. Must be able to spend up to 70% of time in an outdoor shipyard environment in all climates. The noise level is relatively low to moderate in office environments.The noise level in the outdoor shipyard production environment is moderate to noisy 70% of time which may include sirens, horns, chipping, and hammering
ACCOUNTABILITY
Ensures NASSCO's Injury and Illness Prevention Program meets company and regulatory requirements and is effectively implemented. Responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the Safety and Fire Departments and for administering NASSCO's Fire Management System.
Pay Scale: $46,800 - $60,500
This pay range is a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role. It takes into account the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, and education.
