GeekSI is Hiring a Bookkeeper (PT) Near Tallahassee, FL

GeekSI is seeking a Part Time Bookkeeper (10 hours/week) who will run accounting software programs to process business transactions such as accounts payable and receivable, disbursements, expense vouchers and receipts. A successful bookkeeper/accounting clerk should be familiar with all accounting procedures and have a flair for numbers. The bookkeeper will ensure that the company’s daily accounting functions run accurately and effectively.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Posting financial transactions using appropriate computer software
  • Receiving and recording vouchers, cash and checks
  • Entering debits and credits into software applications and databases accurately
  • Producing a variety of reports including income statements and balance sheets
  • Checking for accuracy in reports, figures and postings
  • Reconciling and reporting any discrepancies found in the records

The Must-Haves: To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Associates Degree
  • Minimum of ten years proven accounting experience, preferably as an Accounts receivable clerk or Accounts payable clerk
  • Familiarity with bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures
  • Competency in MS Office, databases and accounting software
  • Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and financial reports
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Aptitude for numbers
  • Ability to perform filing and record keeping tasks
  • Data entry and word processing skills
  • Well organized
  • Comfortable in professional attire

Preferred Skills/Experience: The experience listed below are preferred, but not required, for this job

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or similar field
  • Working knowledge of GAAP
  • Comfort in speaking on the phone
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Some knowledge of information technology concepts is preferred but not required
