Job Description Summary

As a Lead Project Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for the Quality segment of NAM GSI from inquiry to order & order to remittance on projects. This includes delivering documented quality deliverables to the customer and ensuring NAM GSI’s Quality program is thoroughly represented in all offerings. In this role you will use your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and be able to effect short-term and some long-term business goals. You will ensure compliance to all quality requirements from Project Management process and GE standards. You will foster Quality Assurance and Quality Control in all execution areas and assure we fulfill all contractual commitments provided to the Customer.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Read, understand, and analyze the Project Contract in terms of QA/QC.

  • Provide the Contract QA/QC requirements to the Project Team and support Internal & External Kick-Off meetings to ensure that all Contract specific requirements are transmitted to all stakeholders.
  • Define the Project specific processes and documents as per Contract Requirements and/or to meet Customer quality requirements.
  • Consolidate lessons learned from projects in order to make them actionable to prevent issues.
  • Develop and Issue the Project Quality Plan.
  • Ensure all product compliance requirements are properly addressed in the quality package.
  • Implement, support, and monitor compliance with business processes & tools.
  • Prepare and Coordinate with Customer and Supply Chain quality Inspections as per ITP.
  • Ensure execution as per GE requirements (valid documents, control plan).
  • Ensure quality records are created as per required.
  • Ensure the execution of the process from Red Mark to As-Build documentation.
  • Coordinate processes related to quality and growth initiatives including traditional Quality, Six Sigma (DMAIC and Lean), and working with the assigned project team and commercial bid managers 
  • Lead the overall Quality strategy and execution plan for assigned projects and tendering opportunities.
  • Own quality deliverables and KPIs for assigned projects, working with the project team to meet deadlines and deliver under budget.
  • Work with Project Team, and the customer-specific engineering team(s) on execution.
  • Recognize potential shortfalls in design processes and develop corrective actions to reduce defects. Leadership includes CoPQ reduction actions as well as monitoring and auditing for effectiveness.
  • Perform RCAs (root cause analysis) and execute corrective actions.
  • Manage key customer technical quality issues.
  • Interface with internal and external team members including end customer
  • Coordinate lessons learned sharing and implementation for assigned projects and tendering opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university

  • Minimum of 3 years of quality engineering experience in increasingly responsible roles 

  • Minimum of 3 years of Project Management Experience

  • Must be willing and available to travel 20%. Must be willing to comply with all relevant GE company travel and tax policies. Domestic and International.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Field / Construction and/or Commercial / Sales experience

  • Excellent personal computer skills, including proficiency with Excel and Word

  • RCA’s (root cause analysis) experience

  • Strong business acumen, fully understand the mission and scope of business 

  • Experience with application of Lean principles and tools such as Value Stream and Continual Improvement

  • CertifiedSixSigma Green Belt

  • Ability to brainstorm process changes that will enable implementation of new data collection tools in an existing process 

  • Excellent influencing and facilitation skills. Ability to work in a matrix environment and to work effectively cross functionally. 

  • Demonstrated creativity and ability to lead and motivate a team and be accountable for team results in order to deliver a high quality product on time and under budget 

  • Ability to act as a change agent.

  • Familiarity with CAP. 

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Willingness to present ideas to stakeholders to generate buy-in for new quality tools, processes and dashboards

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
