A Transportation Fleet Manager oversees the operation and maintenance of a company’s fleet of vehicles, and sometimes specialized vehicles like forklifts or construction equipment.
What you will do:- Cultivate a positive safety culture at the plant location and comply with company policies and safety standards.
- Ensures customer service by developing and executing schedules to supply on time to customer sites and at the agreed upon delivery rates.
- Manages our customer orders by flattening the daily schedule to best utilize our available fleet avoiding peaks and valleys as much as possible.
- Hires and manages quality drivers encouraging long term employment and works to reduce turn over.
- Supervise and train drivers, ensuring they adhere to safety regulations, company policies, and traffic laws.
- Analyze information on deliveries and works to minimize standby time (waiting time) on sites and at our plants.
- Tracks and reports customer generated standby time and presents this to sales for approval to for customer billing.
- Coordinate regular maintenance schedules for all fleet vehicles to ensure they are safe, reliable, and compliant with regulations.
- Arrange repairs and servicing for vehicles as needed, either through in-house maintenance teams or external service providers.
- Develop and manage budgets for vehicle maintenance, repairs, fuel, insurance, and other related expenses.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle inspections, maintenance, repairs, fuel usage, and other relevant data.
- Ensure that all fleet operations comply with government regulations, safety standards, and environmental requirements.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as fuel efficiency, vehicle uptime, maintenance costs, and driver behavior, and implement strategies to improve performance.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as cost and revenue per hour, on time delivery, tons or yards per hour delivered, and waiting time accumulated vs billed to customer.
Required:- 8 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1 years supervisory experience
- Must have excellent verbal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Must have the ability to handle several projects at once, while maintaining tight deadlines.

Desired:- Degree or additional training/education in logistics management
- Understanding of plant and equipment used in the business
