About the role:
We're looking for a talented vehicle operator to be an integral part of our fast-paced team helping advance cutting-edge technologies by testing with a high safety standard and providing detailed feedback to the engineering team. The ideal candidate is a safe and responsible driver who is dependable, organized, self-driven, open-minded, and has a strong sense of ownership.
This role will be onsite 4-5 days a week at our Mountain View, CA office!
What you'll do:
- Safely operate test vehicles to evaluate and help improve our technology
- Monitor AV system to ensure safe and efficient operations
- Consistently make exceptional judgment calls
- Consistently demonstrate situational awareness, an understanding of the technology in your care, and a willingness to adjust to changes in the environment constantly
- Deploy and execute AV tests as directed
- Master vehicle operations processes and practices
- Conduct a variety of critical data collection for engineering teams using software and hardware, and communicate through multiple channels
- Be an ambassador for the technology by communicating expertly and courteously at all times with management, engineers, and members of the public
What we're looking for:
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent work experience
- 3 years (or more) experience operating straight trucks up to 26-35 ft long in North America with a valid Class A (CDL) driver's license
- Insurability by our underwriting, including clean driving record (personal and professional) and background check
- Must be willing to work flexible hours on both weekdays and weekends
- Customer relationship management experience
- Ability to be meticulous, organized, and proactive
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
- Positive, collegial relationships with co-workers and customers
- Ability to use smartphone applications and willingness to provide your own mobile device
- Truck driver trainer/instructor experience, preferred
- Truck technician experience, preferred
- Experience with Linux Operating System, preferred
- Experience with MS or Google Suite, preferred
