Capstone Coordinator Roles & Responsibilities

• Work directly with HS ADMIN(s) to deploy the capstone process in the school (Principal, AP, TOSA, etc)
• Manage the schools
• Supports schools in development of capstone courses
• Develop materials for schools and students to use in support of capstone development
• Collaboratively design the Capstone Course to align with expectations from Graduation Guidebook
• Work collaboratively with counselors, teachers, and district staff to support capstone access, opportunities, and deadlines
• Develop a building facing document outlining processes and roles/responsibilities for student capstones
• Attend regularly scheduled calibration meetings with all capstone coordinators and the designees of the graduation task force
• Provide dedicated and intentional support and structures inside of the school day with dedicated staff while taking advantage of schools’ existing systems.
• Ensure inclusivity and accessibility for all students /scaffolded supports.
• Convene capstone committee/ workgroup to support early planning for schools (Keep newcomers and lower level ELLs in mind)
• Create a communication strategy that explains the “Why” capstones are essential for students to complete
• Lead all communication around process, deadlines, and deployment
• Coordinate communication plan to feeders regarding capstone as a menu of options choice
• Provide direct support to students in developing and refining their capstone
• Assist buildings in developing school showcases, live performances, presentations to a panel of staff and community members, Digital Badge Endorsers to provide authentic feedback and support, pre-recorded digital submissions with live feedback, etc.
• Assist students in understanding English and math standards for use in their capstone
• Connecting student's Individual Career and Academic Plan (ICAP) and their capstone design
• Connect students with an adult mentor to support the project phase
• Using the APS Graduation Handbook to assist students in reflecting on their high school experience and connecting that to their digital ICAP portfolio
• Provide opportunities for students to rehearse their capstone presentations
• Serve as a collaborative member of the APS Capstone Coordinator Team
• Led by: Dave West, Director of College & Career Services and Alisha Perry, Lead Graduation Coach
• Engage in yearly Quality Review Cycles based on random samples from schools across the system
• Teach the capstone course(s)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $59,351.00 - $106,000.00 per year
