Since 1979, Gateway shelters have provided caring, comprehensive services and safe shelter to adults and dependent children fleeing domestic violence. Our 24/7 shelters offer licensed counseling, emergency and extended-stay care, and court advocacy services for victims of domestic violence and their families, in Arapahoe County, Colorado.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Under the supervision of the Clinical Director, our Bilingual (Spanish Speaking) Therapist will provide direct services to survivors of domestic violence including intake services, individual and group therapy, advocacy, crisis intervention and follow up. As a Bilingual Therapist, your crucial work helps expand our reach to Spanish-speaking communities who may not otherwise have access to our services due to language barriers.

This role is anticipated to work 20 hours per week with a hiring pay rate of $25.00 - $27.50 per hour.

As a part-time employee, you are entitled to vacation, sick leave and Gateway recognized holidays on a pro rata basis.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Provide therapeutic services in Spanish including intakes, assessment and therapeutic interventions centered in trauma informed practices.
  • Provide a combination of virtual and in-office individual and group therapy to adult clients. May also include providing family therapy and parenting support.
  • Advocate and offer follow-up services as a liaison between local agencies and the client. Refer clients to other resources.
  • Counsel, treatment plan, provide needs assessment for other services
  • Provide termination and follow-up services to clients on an individual basis.
  • Maintain client files, including standard forms and progress notes and monthly reporting.
  • Ensure proper safety and security procedures are followed.
  • Attend staff and clinical meetings and group consultation.
  • Adhere to Colorado’s mandatory reporting laws related to children and at-risk adults and/or elder abuse.
  • Work collaboratively with the non-residential team as well as other agency programs to meet the needs of clients served.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO OUR ORGANIZATION

  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, family counseling or related mental health field required.
  • Two years of experience in clinical therapy, counseling, or human services field preferred.
  • Must be registered with Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as an LPC, LMFT or LCSW OR be eligible for Licensure candidacy (LSW, LPCC, MFTC).
  • Strong Spanish Speaking and translating skills required.

  • Has a knowledge of trauma informed care relating to domestic violence.

  • Has a positive attitude and openness to supporting people in crisis.
  • Has the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Works effectively as part of a team to deliver overall services.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • CPR and First Aid certified, preferred.

Gateway domestic Violence Services offers counseling, residential care and court advocacy services for victims of domestic violence and their families, in Arapahoe County, Colorado. Our mission is to prevent and eliminate partner violence and to empower people for social transformation. We receive more than 9,000 crisis calls a year, provide 10,000+ nights of residential care for families and their pets. We assist with 2,000+ court advocacy cases for domestic violence victims. Individual counseling is available for women, men and children suffering from the effects of domestic violence. The short-term facility in Aurora has 24 beds; our other (long-term) facility in southern Arapahoe county has a 15-bed capacity. Gateways North residential program offers a 45-day program for women and children fleeing domestic violence. Our South residential program offers extended stay for up to 90 days.
