Gastroenterology of the Rockies is Hiring an External Referral Coordinator Near Louisville, CO

Non- Exempt
Pay range: $18-20
Reports to: Call Center Manager
Location: Administration Building in Louisville
Position Summary:
Gastroenterology of the Rockies is a rapidly growing Gastroenterology practice in Boulder County and the greater Denver Metro area with eight office locations and five Ambulatory Surgery Centers.
Processes electronic referrals and inputs them into our EHR system. Processes patient medical records in a timely and accurate manner. Converts paper records to electronic form. Continuously checks work for accuracy of data processed. Maintains high level of security and confidentiality regarding the information in his/her care. Answers telephone calls to the practice. Transfers callers to the appropriate person according to company procedures. Takes messages and ensure quick and effective delivery to the correct party.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Inputs electronic referrals from our fax system and outside EHRs to our EHR.
Pre-register the patient's demographic information from the referral into the practice management system or EHR.
Scan and import charts that have been sent from the clinic locations. Continually checks work for errors and makes the required corrections. Follows HIPPA guidelines.
Dispose all scanned materials by shredding as required by practice policy on a regularly scheduled basis. Does not allow documents requiring shredding to get backed up.
Requests for information are date and time stamped and initialed when received and recorded in the log.
Contacts appropriate hospitals or labs when documentation is missing from a patient file. Follows up until documents/results are received and added to the chart.
Performs other projects and/or tasks as requested by the management team.
Minimum Qualifications:
Has a High school diploma or equivalent
Has 2 years experience in referral processing, medical records processing, or equivalent experience
Has working knowledge of medical terminology
Is professional and committed to excellent patient care
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Is dependable, detail oriented, and ability to multi-task
Intermediate computer skills, familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems is a plus
Is a team player and able to work in a fast-paced environment
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to walk short distances.
Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
