Job Purpose

The Housekeeping Supervisor supports the department by ensuring cleanliness of the property in accordance with the Gasparilla Inn & Club standards. Follows all policies and procedures while constantly striving to improve all standards of the operation. Ensures the highest degree of quality guest care is maintained at all times, through prompt and courteous care. This position is considered the first line of management in the department and will direct daily tasks at the direction of upper management.

Required:

• One Year of Housekeeping/Management Experience
• Excellent Communication Skills.
• High School Diploma

Preferred:

• One year of experience at a luxury hotel. (Preferred)

Job Duties:

• Thorough knowledge of property, space, and housekeeping processes.
• Provide leadership and direction for all subordinates in department.
• Have an eye for detail and the ability to make sound decisions in demanding environment.
• Ability to train, motivate, coach, counsel and discipline staff on Inn written policies and procedures.
• Coordinate room readiness with front office and maintenance departments for guest arrivals and service requests.
• Completes weekly staffing schedules and submits to Manager of Housekeeping for final review before Director approval.
• Conducts property inspections of all rooms, out of service, VIP and cleaned rooms to ensure quality standards are achieved.
• Provide clear direction in assigning and instructing housekeeping and laundry staff in details of work.
• Delegates work load to housekeeping staff to guarantee maximum production and guest satisfaction.
• Ensure proper usage of chemicals and cleaning supplies by monitoring usage, providing complete training for employees and ensuring proper labeling of hazardous supplies in accordance with the Inn’s hazard communication program.
• Reports any issues such as furniture, fixtures, décor needs , etc. when there may be a need for replacement on rehabbing to Housekeeping Manager and Director to foster open communications.
• Answers the Maintenance phone as necessary.
• Communicate both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to staff.
• Assists the Housekeeping Manager with payroll readiness.
• All other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions and Assignments:

This position does require you to be standing and walking 90% of the time. The position requires a high degree of physical exertion such as bending, twisting, kneeling, pushing and pulling up to approximately 80 pounds. There will also an exposure to elevated noise levels of cleaning equipment.

Due to multiple sites for the Inn, this position will often be exposed to outside weather conditions throughout the day. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

This position is full time and there is an expectation of having no scheduling restrictions and on-call hours.
