Garver Engineering is Hiring an Environmental Specialist (NEPA) Near Frisco, TX
- Serve as task lead and assist with preparation of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) projects, including CE, EA, and EIS projects.
- Review and apply procedures for compliance with environmental regulations under NEPA.
- Prepare NEPA documents for TxDOT and municipal government transportation projects.
- Conduct field studies and site visits for environmental and planning studies, including habitat assessments and wetlands and waters of the U.S. delineations.
- Collect and analyze data to be used in developing an inventory of existing conditions, analyzing constraints, assessing potential impacts of proposed actions, and evaluating alternatives.
- Prepare, review, and edit environmental technical reports.
- Prepare USACE permit applications in compliance with agency guidance, policy, and laws.
- Assist with public involvement and stakeholder outreach activities.
- Prepare scopes of work and fee estimates.
- Possess specific oral and written communication skills.
- Direct junior level staff and interact with other staff and team members.
- Occasionally support Senior staff with client, customer, or official contacts and communication pertaining to specific assignments or meetings.
- Apply critical-thinking skills and contribute to problem solving.
- Bachelor's degree in an environmental science field, environmental planning, geography, or related field.
- 7 to 10 years of experience working in the environmental planning field, completing surveys, fieldwork, habitat assessment and permitting.
- Wetland delineation training certification and permitting experience
- Able to work in office environment with some travel and field work required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Proficiency with ArcGIS
- Established knowledge of State and Federal environmental regulations and guidelines.
- Experience preparing environmental reports and documentation for transportation, aviation and/or water infrastructure projects.
- Experience preparing environmental technical reports and documentation for TxDOT projects.
- Experience working on projects for municipalities.
- Experience coordinating with Federal and State resource agencies.
- Experience with public involvement and outreach.
- Excellent communication skills and able to work on a collaborative team.
- Availability for occasional overnight travel (generally less than one week).
