JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: CAD Engineering Technician for Truck Body Manufacturing

GapVax, Inc. is a Johnstown, PA manufacturer of vacuum trucks and related equipment. For each truck produced, the CAD engineering technician develops 3D models and detailed shop drawings for body fabrication and chassis layout as well as hydraulic, pneumatic and water schematics. The CAD technician also verifies that the bill of materials is correct.
This position requires a minimum of an Associate’s Degree in CAD drafting and reports to the Engineering Department Manager. This position will require a high degree of collaboration with foremen, shop floor technicians and the Engineering Department. The ideal candidate will have heavy truck body building experience. The ideal candidate will possess keen attention to detail, ability to work with minimal guidance, and a hands-on approach to production engineering. This position will require time in productions areas.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE:

1.Minimum of two years Associates degree in CAD drafting with a background in a metal fabrication, hydraulics, pneumatic in a manufacturing environment
2.Proficiency in engineering CAD software CREO/Pro E, 3D modeling, 2D AutoCAD and AutoCAD Inventor.
3.Working knowledge of MS Excel.
4.Ability to design new parts and assemblies following basic engineering principles.
5.Experience with heavy truck body building and manufacturing
6.Ability to develop hydraulic, pneumatic and water schematics and diagrams used in production.
7.Ability to read and understand electrical schematics used in production.
8.Ability to work with shop floor technicians, foremen and members of the engineering department.
9.Ability to communicate technical matters clearly verbally and in writing.
