Gannett Fleming’s geotechnical engineering practice provides solutions for foundation design and rehabilitation, underground construction, earth structures and water resources. Exploration, analysis and design related to soil, rock and groundwater is an essential part of every project. Our engineers and geologists specialize in foundation design and testing, landslides, sinkholes, mine subsidence, seepage, expansive soils and seismic activity.

Our Denver, CO Geotechnical Practice is currently seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer or Geotechnical Project Manager in Dams & Hydraulics practice. This individual will work with team members in geotechnical and other civil disciplines planning, overseeing and completing dam engineering design including earth embankment dams and levee systems.

Candidates can reside nationwide but preference will be given to those who live in the following metropolitan areas:

• Austin, TX

Duties/Responsibilities include:

• Responsible for leading a team of engineers to perform engineering designs and analyses for water resources projects.
• Independently applies advanced theories, concepts, and principles of engineering to resolve crucial issues and unique conditions. Serves as a technical specialist in analyzing the components of geotechnical, dams, levees, waterways, and hydraulic structures projects, establishing design criteria and executing designs.
• Responsibilities include verifying the work of others and interpreting and communicating results to the project team and to the client.
• Assist in planning and overseeing field explorations, construction projects, laboratory testing, design and analysis of shallow and deep foundations for major hydraulic structures, stability and seepage analyses of earthen embankments, settlement estimates, seismic analyses.
• Prepare written reports and documentation, geotechnical correspondence, design and construction drawings and specifications.
• Lead or assist in developing and preparing proposals including coordinating with other team members for practice specific input.
• Serve as lead geotechnical engineer for geotechnical projects or geotechnical components of multidiscipline projects as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering required
• P.E. license required (Licensure in TX preferred)
• At least 10 years of related professional experience
• Must have geotechnical project experience in Texas as well as an understanding and experience with Southeast Texas geology
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
• Must be willing to travel, including extended periods out of town at remote project sites, regional offices, and as required by the scope of the project.
• Must be comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions, around large equipment and highway traffic.
• Must be capable of lifting 30 pounds and traversing steep slopes and rough terrain.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Must have current Driver’s License
