SAFETY COORDINATOR

Currently looking for an experienced Safety Coordinator at Ganahl Lumber Co. located in Anaheim, CA. Interested candidate should have a minimum of 1 year of experience in the development and maintenance of a safe work program. Candidate must have a strong knowledge of general OSHA standards (State and Federal).

Responsibilities of the Safety Coordinator

  • Compiles and monitors safety metrics to identify risk areas and trends, and facilitate continuous improvement in safety performance.
  • Create partnerships with the leadership team and employees at each location.
  • Provide guidance that promotes safe working behaviors that lead to the prevention and reduction of accidents and injuries.
  • Attend all Safety Meetings at each store to share trends and make recommendations that maintain a strong safety culture.
  • Attend New Hire Orientations to promote Ganahl Lumber Co. safety culture.
  • Visit all Ganahl Lumber Co. locations to conduct safety audits and routine inspections to ensure compliance with State and Federal regulatory standards.
  • Lead in the investigation of all accidents and/or injuries to produce corrective recommendations designed to reduce and prevent at-risk behaviors.
  • Help to standardize and centralize required safety trainings within Ganahl Lumber and develop and provide training materials as needed.
  • Monitor and review Ganahl Lumber Co. CCTV to identify safety issues at each location.
  • Reports to Personnel Manager.
  • Local travel required.
  • Other related duties and responsibilities as needed.

Preferred requirements of the Safety Coordinator

  • 1 year of proven experience as a Safety Coordinator or related safety experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in developing safety programs and working with IIPP.
  • Strong knowledge of general OSHA standards. (State and Federal).
  • Experienced in powered industrial truck training (PIT) and related operational standards.
  • Experience working with CCTV systems.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to travel throughout facility to conduct safety inspections.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
