Gallatin County is Hiring a Fairgrounds Maintenance Worker Near Bozeman, MT


This position is located in the Gallatin County Fairgrounds and is responsible for performing maintenance, repairs, improvements and custodial care of the fairgrounds. This position coordinates carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and landscaping projects; enforces fairground policies; collects fees for various services; coordinates fair setup and take down; oversees volunteers and temporary workers; prepares equipment and materials budget recommendations; develops new projects; and performs a variety of other maintenance and repair duties as needed. This position reports to the Fairgrounds Manager through the Facility Maintenance Supervisor and does not supervise other county personnel.
 This work requires knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, heating, security systems; carpentry, masonry, custodial care and construction; automotive and small engine mechanics; safety standards; and project planning and management. The position also requires the ability to operate power tools, heavy equipment, and maintenance vehicles. This position must have knowledge and skill in customer service, written and verbal communication and requires the ability to learn fairground services, facilities, and events. Position must have the ability to work nights and some weekends; work well with the public; maintain accurate records and establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Applicants must be willing to work alone or with others and must be reliable and responsible. 
 The required knowledge, skills, and abilities are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma and one year of technical training in one or more facilities systems (e.g., plumbing, electrical, carpentry, etc.) plus some of related work experience (1-2 years). On the job training is available.
 
Licenses and Certifications: Position must possess a valid driver's license issued by the state of Montana or attain a Montana driver's license within six months of hire and be insurable under the County's liability policies.

Gallatin County offers an excellent benefits package including health benefits where premiums for FT employees are covered by the County. Employees participate in a mandatory retirement plan through MT Public Employee Retirement System. Employees receive 12 paid days of sick, 15 days of paid vacation and 10-11 paid holidays per year.
