For 125 years, generations of Brooklynites put on black ties, waistcoats, and black jackets to work beneath our glowing gaslights. In return for their labor, these individuals commanded the respect of their community, and often stayed in their positions for decades. On the sleeves of their jackets, they wore insignia indicating the length of their service: a bar for each year, a star for five years, and an eagle for 25 years. Some servers wore jackets with two eagles — they worked at Gage & Tollner for more than 50 years.

Job Description:

We are currently seeking a dedicated and reliable individual to join our team as a Porter and Dishwasher. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization in our kitchen and dining areas, as well as standard dishwashing duties. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively as a key player in a large fast paced and teamwork focused environment.

Responsibilities:

• Clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment
• Sweep and mop floors in kitchen and dining areas
• Empty trash bins and ensure proper disposal of waste
• Assist with receiving and storing deliveries
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in kitchen storage areas
• Follow all health and safety regulations and guidelines

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a similar role preferred but not required
• Ability to work efficiently in a team environment
• Strong attention to detail and cleanliness
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
