Summary This is an opportunity to work with an experienced group of positive people, working together to ensure GAF’s commercial roofing systems arrive on time, when needed. The Warehouse Associate reports to the Shipping Supervisor in a busy, team-oriented environment. The Warehouse Associate must be familiar with all areas of the forklift driving procedures for safely loading and unloading trucks to maintain efficient, safe operations. The Warehouse Associate is responsible for accurate, efficient order picking, order verification and loading of customer or carriers' vehicles in a safe manner. The ideal candidate thrives in environments where safety, quality, service and cost are the highest priorities, and maintains a high focus on customer service, ensuring consistent on time deliveries. Schedule The Warehouse Associate will be scheduled for day shifts, Monday through Friday. Hours may vary, based on customer needs and truck availability. Successful candidates for this dynamic role must be able to work extended hours when needed, past the regularly scheduled shift. Occasional holidays and weekends may be scheduled. Essential Duties Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: ● Ensures compliance with all plant EHS standards and procedures ● Practices incident and accident prevention, demonstrating safe behavior in all activities. Responsible for working safety and reporting all incidents ● Obtains and maintains fork-truck certification by attending in-house training, and completes daily forklift check sheets ● Ensures housekeeping in his/her work areas are priority at all times ● Prioritizes work assignments by meeting with Shipping Supervisor every morning and throughout the day ● Drives the forklift safely through the warehouse, mindful of pedestrian traffic at all times ● Participate in Cycle Counting events when needed, able to adjust schedule to meet inventory deadlines ● Ships according to FIFO principles on all items in the warehouse to ensure shelf-life efficacy ● Prepares product for shipping by reviewing the packing slip, hand picking the product and assembling the pallet. ● Arranges pallets on flatbeds according to weight restrictions and driver input when loading. Ensures correct product delivery by reviewing packing slip and product on truck ● Stretch wraps accessory pallets by placing pallets on turntable, adjusting height and tension ● Verifies product quantity for shipment and receiving by counting and signing Picking Slip and Bill of Lading ● Learns safety hazards and job procedures by reading and understanding job safety analysis (JSA) ● Learns software programs by reading and understanding manuals and procedures ● Suggests improvements in work methods and procedures by communicating to Shipping Supervisor ● Works safely when loading and unloading van trailers; uses dock locks and chocks to hold trailer steady when going in and out ● Learns hazardous material safety for spills and transporting material; earns HAZMAT certification and keeps current ● Obtains and maintains forklift certification by attending in house training ● Trouble shoots and communicates any work related issues with Supply Chain Team and/or Maintenance if needed ● Performs other duties as instructed by the Supply Chain Management team ● Daily review of email and department communication; maintains a good attendance record ● Maintains a positive working relationship with all plant employees and other business contacts ● Uses process improvement tools to drive continuous improvement of the plant and business processes ● Follow and document Hazardous Materials Transportation Guidelines for all shipments ● Observe what needs to be done and takes initiative to perform this work Physical Demands ● Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions ● Frequent sitting, walking and standing; occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling and balancing ● Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices such as the telephone ● Required to sit, stand, walk and use hands to grasp, handle or feel objects, tools and product samples ● Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus ● Must continuously have the ability to differentiate colors precisely ● Required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel or crouch ● Ability to perform detailed testing processes in various process conditions ● Frequent use of eye, hand and finger coordination enabling the use of manufacturing equipment and machinery ● Ability to read and concentrate via computer data entry typing and proofreading ● Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds Under This Roof, We Require ● High School Diploma or GED is required ● 3 years of experience in a fast paced, logistics manufacturing environment ● Ability to communicate, both written, and orally, in English is required Under This Roof, We Also Value ● Ability to troubleshoot and solve logistics, carrier and customer challenges ● Experience supporting logistics, customer care and business goals ● Advanced proficiency in Google Suite ● Familiar with standard warehouse concepts, practices and procedures ● Experience in fast-paced warehouse environment and safe forklift operation ● Demonstrated intermediate communication and interpersonal skills How We Protect What Matters Most ● We offer a wide range of health insurance options that include medical, dental, and vision for you and your family. ● Our Family-Building benefits support the many different journeys to fertility and parenthood. ● Our robust 401K plan includes an employer match contribution with your pre-tax and/or Roth contributions. ● Other exciting programs and perks are available to help employees achieve work-life balance, including (but not limited to) a wellness program, free financial coaching, a referral program, and product rebates when purchased for an employee’s primary residence. ● Professional growth and development are very important to us!
