POSITION TITLE : Finishing Technician

POSITION OVERVIEW

To perform the duties of a Finishing Technician with precision and efficiently in order to preserve labor and materials. To be driven by your results;

achieving a consistently excellent paint finish on each assigned work order.

• Perform tasks in a safe and proficient manner at all times.
• Positively support and work with other departments as a team.
• Support, maintain, and build the Lean Culture at Gable.

• Knowledge of the proper prep methods and time they should take.
• Experience with the proper mixing of various paints by manufactures.
• Experience with the proper application of finishes with various types of spray equipment.
• Experience with proper and scheduled maintenance of spray booth equipment.
• Proper communication to the Safety manager of paint disposal to ensure we are compliant with local, state, and federal requirements.
• Coaching and mentoring subordinates.
• Directing and assisting department personnel as needed to accomplish team goals.
• Reviewing allocated hours of work with department associates prior to productions.
• Preparing job paperwork and ensuring all materials, samples, and instructions are available prior to production.
• Assisting with the coordination of machine scheduling to optimize production.
• Reviewing job spoilage totals.
• Verifying proper procedures are being followed to maintain product specification within our quality standards.
• Informing management of labor needs and / or problems related to production.
• Maintaining cross team communication.
• Complying with all OSHA and MOSH regulations.
• Maintaining a clean, safe, organized, and disciplined work environment.
• Performing any work-related tasks assigned to you by someone in your reporting structure.

ORGANIZATIONAL / FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure you are working in a safe, productive manner at all times.
• Monitor and adjust overtime usage as needed.
• Ensure the proper usage of materials used in the department.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

• Skill in solving practical problems commonly experienced in manufacturing.
• Working knowledge of and ability to interpret a variety instructions; e.g., written and oral.
• Ability to read and interpret design drawings and miscellaneous signage sketches.
• Skill in evaluating work order packages to ensure completeness and a smooth project completion.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to compute rate and ratio.

Ability to communicate effectively with interfacing teams.

The Finishing Technician must have the ability to frequently lift items weighting between 10 and 50 lbs. Additionally, twelve-hour work shifts are necessary in this position in which you must stand, bend, or stoop without relief.

While performing the duties of this job team member is exposed to moving mechanical parts and high, precarious places. The noise level in the environment is moderate to high.

Frequent shop noise will be very loud and protective ear covers may be needed. The required PPE must be work at all times while in the shop.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

All prospective team members must pass a criminal background check and drug test. Candidates must also meet the requirements for an I-9, e-Verify.
