Fusion Marine Technology is Hiring a Marine Electronics Technician Near Seattle, WA

Job title: Marine Electronics Technician

Department: Fusion Marine

Location: North America/Seattle, Washington

Supervisor: Director of Commercial Service

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Job Purpose:

The Marine Electronics Technician is responsible for performing repairs, installation and maintenance of equipment. We are looking for hard workers who can think on their feet and are willing to put in the extra effort necessary to achieve top notch service for our customers. On large scale projects, working as part of a team is critical. The ability for you to be able to work and complete tasks without supervision, when necessary on smaller jobs will be required.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Perform repairs, installations, and maintenance of MF, HF, and VHF radios, radars, satellite communications, shipboard networks and computers, along with navigation and safety systems on commercial vessels.
  • Utilize test equipment as required (multimeter, watt meter, etc.)
  • Use and operate hand and power tools.
  • Must provide your own primary tool set - we can work around a lack of tools when you're starting out.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years experience as a field technician working on electronic equipment on commercial vessels or similar experience.
  • Microsoft office products proficient (excel, outlook, etc.)
  • Able to receive a TWIC card within 2 months of hire.
  • Able to qualify for Military base access.
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical safety standards.
  • Technical knowledge of two-way radio, microwave and satellite communications (preferred).
  • FCC GMDSS Maintainer’s License or ability to acquire license within six months of hire. (preferred)
  • Know how to use an RFI, Watt meter, Spectrum analyzer, and other test equipment (preferred).
  • Customer service skills
  • Ability to work and complete tasks, without direct supervision when necessary
  • Must be self-motivated and team oriented.
  • Must have clean driving record, valid driver license and be insurable.
  • Must have your own transportation (mileage provided for any work outside of King county).
  • We have offices in Seattle and Dutch Harbor so travel will be required.
  • Personal Characteristics: problem solving, strategic thinking, confidential and ethical, results driven, customer focus, and a team player.
  • Understanding of proper safety procedures and use of safety equipment.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; any incumbent must be committed to self-development including lifelong learning, regardless of their formal education.
  • A willingness to embrace and live the core values of Fusion Marine/Network Innovations.

Skills:

  • Commercial maritime experience highly (preferred)
  • Marine electrical/electronic experience (preferred)

Working conditions and Physical requirements:

This position does have a standard 7-4, M-F schedule, but there is demand for potential shift rotation and/or on-call requirements. However, the incumbent must be available 24/7 x 365, within reason, to advance his/her team and the organization. Overtime is often necessary to meet stringent deadlines for our customers.

The position operates in the field aboard commercial steel vessels. You must have the ability to travel. Applicant must be comfortable working in shipyard environments, onboard fish processing vessels, and working from heights for prolonged periods of time.
