Pacific Power Group is looking for a Journey Level Marine Technician for our newest location on Lake Union, Seattle, WA.

If you have a 2 or more years experience on servicing, repairing, and/or over hauling MTU, Volvo Penta, or Detroit Diesel engines, we would like to speak with you. Also, having gas and diesel inboard and outboard experience is a plus, as well as the ability to use a computer for communication and documentation.

Salary: $33.00 - $50.00 per hour, based on skills and experience. An additional $1.50 per hour when working in the field.

Sign-on Bonus: $1000

Location: Lake Union, Seattle, WA

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Travel Requirements: up to 25% within the Lake Union region.

Requirements

Primary (Essential) Duties:

  • Determines unit condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying deficiencies.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Verifies performance by conducting sea trials and making necessary adjustments as needed.
  • Contains cost by using warranty, evaluating service and parts options.
  • Maintains engine and vessel records with accurate documentation of service and repairs.
  • Communicates while on site with customers in a professional manner.
  • Accepts ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; explores value add opportunities.
  • Maintains a safe and organized work environment.
  • Complete work logs in timely manner with all relevant information.
  • Reports to Lake Union Seattle branch.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Above average laptop/PC skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues.
  • Ability to read service and repair manuals, operating instructions, and work orders.
  • Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion.
  • Fluent with electrical multi-meters.
  • Thorough understanding of diesel engine electronic controls.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, with proven ability to clearly communicate with technical support, sales and management.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team.
  • 2 years experience.
  • MTU experience is a plus.
  • Volvo Penta experience is a plus.
  • Detroit Diesel experience is a plus.
  • Gas and diesel I/O experience is a plus.
  • Washington State Boaters Card is a plus.

Experience/Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical schooling is a plus.

Other Requirements:

  • Own set of mechanics tools (metric and SAE).
  • Maintain a clean and organized work vehicle.
  • Complete company provided manufacture training – online and in person.
  • Ability to drive company vehicle.
