Fulton County Schools is Hiring a Support Specialist, CTAE Near Atlanta, GA
Summary
The Support Specialist for CTAE is responsible for working closely with teachers and schools across the District with their CTAE options, including development and implementation of effective K-12 standards-based instruction, appropriate and balanced assessment, professional development for CTAE teachers, and vertical alignment in all levels of CTAE. Additionally, the incumbent in this position is charged with helping to improve CTAE instructional practices across the district.
Note: This position is funded partially through Supervision grant money and is therefore dependent on continued funding from the grant.
Essential Duties
- Assists in the coordination of system-wide iniatives that provide opportunities for students’ post-secondary careers
- Uses data to determine modifications which will enhance program offerings and opportunities for students to excel in the future
- Provides support for the implementation of CTSO Programs of Work and the Georgia CTAE Extended Day Program
- Provides support and leadership development for CTSO Lead Advisors
- Oversees the FCS CTAE New Teacher Academy
- Provides support for CTAE programs completing Industry Certification
- Provides curriculum and instructional support as needed
- Facilitates the Governors Honors Program for all CTAE-related areas
- Develops and oversees the Elementary CTAE Career Awareness Specials curriculum and provides appropriate professional development for successful implementation
- Assists with curriculum development and implementation to ensure that programs/courses are aligned with District initiatives and meet state and industry standards
- Interfaces and collaborates with other departments within Fulton County Schools
- Uses data to determine modifications which will enhance program offerings and opportunities for students to excel in the future
- Models exemplary practices regarding effective teaching strategies in the classroom
- Demonstrates a flexible, adaptive, and responsive approach to the needs of FCS and the students, educators, school organizations, and communities that it serves
- Conveys a positive and professional image to staff and public
- Participates in meetings with community stakeholders (chambers of commerce, advisory committees, industry partners)
- Engages in continual learning to deepen knowledge of current and emerging technologies
- Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator
Required Education
Certification/Licensure
Experience Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of classroom teaching experience at the secondary level required; Additional school leadership experience preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Strong background in creative problem-solving and team building
- Ability to develop, implement, monitor and evaluate program goals and initiatives
- Experience in coordination and delivery of Work-Based Learning components
- Ability to identify and articulate best practices in Work-Basel Learning program delivery
- Ability to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) with students, parents, school personnel and the general public
- Demonstrated ability to effectively use data for decision-making
- Experience in the implementation of Georgia Performance Standards
- Knowledge of Georgia Graduation Rules
- Knowledge and background in scientifically-based research principles
- Working knowledge of software packages such as, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite
- Current technology experience and knowledge
- Excellent presentation and group facilitation skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with others to meet project goals
