The Switchboard Operator/ED Receptionist is responsible for the main communications center for the hospital. Must have the ability to operate a multiline phone, monitor all alarms, codes, and the ability to multitask and work under pressure. Additional duties include minimal cashier duties, covering for the ED Receptionist, receiving patients into Meditech with a chief complaint, while ensuring proper identification to connect established patients to their medical record, and obtaining the electronic signature for treatment. Major responsibility is to accurately communicate the patient’s immediate medical needs with the ED Staff. Must always display an attitude that would create a good relationship with the patient and their families, other employees, and the general public. Training will be held on both first and second shift for about three weeks.
Requirements
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Previous reception or switchboard experience desired. Medical terminology course or equivalent required. Computer skill requirements include Microsoft Word, Excel, and Lotus Notes. Previous experience with Meditech desired. CPR Certification preferred.
