R&D Sample Lab Formulator

Department: Research and development

Status level: Hourly, Non-Exempt

Accountability: Reports directly to R&D facilitator

Authority: Will collaborate with a team of Sample Lab Technicians and Facilitator to execute on assigned duties

Inter relations: Contact with Director of R&D, Food Scientists, Chefs, Sample Lab, Sales, Production and QC.

Job summary: Responsible for maintaining the laboratory in a professional and safe manner. General duties include stocking laboratory, maintaining a clean and organized laboratory, creating base materials, compounding seasoning samples, shipment of samples, and entering data and documentation as necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities: Specific duties include:

•  Understand and follow all Fuchs safety policies and GMP's
• Complete all daily general laboratory assignments and cleaning tasks. Execute on projects as assigned by scientist. Delivering on expected due dates and goals of the project.
• Compound seasonings with guidance and get final approval from scientist upon completio
• Ability to understand stocking data and lot selection when pulling materials
• Ability to meet timeline on assigned projects
• Maintain documentation of all project work and record in appropriate systems
• Maintain general laboratory in a clean and organized state by loading/unloading dish washers, stocking cleaning supplies, stocking materials, and organizing the shelves and general utensils and equipment.
• Sets example in the laboratory on cleanliness and orderliness to ensure a safe and efficient work flow. Attend professional growth/development opportunities as they are made available
• Ability to work with and communicate in a professional manner as required
• Ability to provide updates on projects and goals with scientist, R&D director, and sample lab team
• Ability to understand current portfolio and common ingredients utilized in the laboratory
• Ability to document necessary information relevant to projects and inventory stocking as assigned
• Understand Fuch's portfolio and process on how to get samples to maintain stock in the laboratory and test kitchen
• Work closely with operations and warehouse to obtain materials needed in the laboratory

 Skills and Education Requirements: high school diploma with 0-1 years relevant work experience

Working Conditions: Regular exposure to airborne particles or dust from spices and other ingredients. Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts.

• Must be able to run basic math calculations and conversions which typically include converting formulations to percentages, standard to metric, cost evaluation, and understand stocking values.
• Understand technical instructions and standard operating procedures and precisely replicate as directed.
• Strong computer skills and ability to use multiple types of software
