JOB TITLE: Quality Supervisor DEPARTMENT: Quality

ACCOUNTABILITY: Reports to Quality Manager

BACK-UP:

JOB SUMMARY:

This individual owns the daily operation of the quality labs. They are directly responsible for employee safety, food safety, developing their team, and managing the flow and control of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods samples, quality checks, and releases. This individual will supervise and coordinate the activities of the Quality Team members for 1^st and 2^nd shift chem techs and micro techs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Specific duties include:

• Be a champion for workplace safety.
• Ensure all Food Safety, Quality, GMP, and HACCP policies and procedures are being followed.
• Create and sustain a cohesive, positive, and clean work environment.
• Direct and coordinate activities of employees engaged in lab activities including daily testing, project work, and maintaining lab standards.
• Work with management and your team to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Confer with other managers, supervisors, and leads to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.
• Read and analyze production orders, production schedules and activities within or between departments.
• Demonstrate equipment operations and safety procedures to new employees or assign employees to experienced workers for training.
• Lead by example with a strong work ethic, desire to learn, and positive attitude.
• Willingness to fill gaps and work alongside employees.
• Monitor production throughput and labor utilization to ensure work is being done completely and efficiently.
• Ensure all products are tested and systematically controlled or released for use real-time.
• Work with the quality, production, and support teams to solve problems, develop rework plans, and determine product dispositions.
• Serve as back-up to the Quality Manager and Quality Food Safety Specialist as needed.

SKILLS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Previous lab experience and 2 years of supervisory experience. Food manufacturing preferred. Production experience is beneficial.
• Science related degree (Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or similar) or equivalent experience.
• Creative problem solver and excellent root cause analysis.
• Ability to teach others, delegate effectively, monitor/assess performance of yourself or other individuals to make improvements, and confidently make decisions.
• Must be detailed oriented and able to quickly adjust and adapt to priorities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Selfless leader that acts with integrity.
• Must have the ability to move about for long periods of time.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Willingness and ability to adjust and adapt schedule to business needs.
• Some travel may be required for customer visits, supplier visits, or training as needed.
