We are hiring a part-time (up to 50%) Project Financial Analyst to manage travel, procurement, and other related financial processes for a project supporting the Missile Defense Agency. FTI provides range support services for ballistic and hypersonic test missions at DoD, NASA, and other agency ranges around the world. We cover mission planning, networks and systems engineering, telemetry, data and voice communications, logistics, and cybersecurity aspects of missile testing.

FTI is looking for a qualified candidate to be responsible for providing financial management support and coordination for this complex project. The Project Financial Analyst will directly support the Project Manager (PM) through end-to-end management of over 100 travel evolutions and over $500,000 in materials and ODC purchases annually. A Project Financial Analyst must understand and comply with corporate financial and account controls, procedures, and requirements. The Project Financial Analyst must be able to thrive in a collaborative work environment as well as demonstrate and insist on ethical and professional behavior in accordance with company values. 

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with the PM to update actuals and forecasts in Cost Tracking tools and Revenue Forecast reports.
  • Support preparation, tracking and analysis of project financial data for travel, materials and ODCs.
  • Prepare, route, track and disseminate Travel Authorization Requests (TARs).
  • Coordinate with travelers to complete Expense Reports (ERs), review monthly revenue, and confirm accurate invoicing.
  • Prepare, route, track and manage end-to-end processes for procuring materials and ODCs, starting with Requisitions (RQs) and continuing through approval, Purchase Orders (POs), order tracking and confirmation (DD-250s), and ending with monthly revenue capture and invoicing.
  • Identify variances between monthly revenue forecast and actual expenditures.
  • Support the PM by performing quality assurance checks of financial reports and cost trackers.
  • Support the PM with financial reporting and preparation for program reviews, fiscal year planning events, and customer deliverables.
  • Track, monitor, and analyze impact to revenue based on updated forecasts and expenditures including what-if analysis due to surge or reductions.
  • Support the PM by monitoring status of invoices to ensure they are processed and approved in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate/interface with accounting to monitor status of unpaid invoices and billing items on-hold.
  • Validate available funds to process ODC/Material purchase requests and travel requirements.
  • Identify areas of improvement or best practices to drive an efficient financial reporting and tracking cadence within the project.

Education/Qualifications

Career-development professional within field. Requires moderate skill set and proficiency in discipline. Conducts work assignments of increasing complexity, under moderate supervision with some latitude for independent judgment. 

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience is required (or 7 years directly related experience).
  • Prefer at least two (2) years of experience supporting Department of Defense programs/projects.
  • Must be a U. S. Citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a security clearance.
  • Strong analytical, financial management, and organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent written, oral, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office products.
  • Experience with Corporate accounting systems.
    • Experience with Vena, CostPoint and/or Cognos highly desired.
