Frontier Coop is Hiring a Master Production Scheduler Near Norway, IA

SUMMARY

Responsible for ensuring adequate finished goods inventory at a cost efficient price level through effective production scheduling.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Viewed as the Frontier Co-op authority on production planning and the corresponding systems and technology.
  • Coordinates production scheduling utilizing MRP.
  • Coordinates capacity planning in conjunction with operations.
  • Understands cost factors of production and ensures runs are managed at the most cost effective levels.
  • Interacts with purchasing, production, marketing, sales, and quality control departments to ensure smooth and timely production scheduling, and product movement.
  • Serves as liaison between production planning and other departments to anticipate and resolve production planning issues.
  • Coordinates production scheduling for new product introductions.
  • Performs functions of a production planner as needed.
  • Ensures departmental compliance with company safety practices, sanitation practices and good manufacturing procedures.
  • Evaluates and recommends new equipment, processes, or layouts to improve production planning, and receiving/warehousing efficiencies.
  • Collects and analyzes production planning data to determine operating efficiencies.
  • Able to present to the highest levels of the organization in regard to production planning efficiencies and costs.
  • Reviews and verifies labor distribution reports for accuracy.
  • Develops long term departmental goals and strategies through company strategic planning process.
  • Strives to reduce waste, recycle products whenever possible, and re-use resources when practical.
  • Works safely at all times, follows safety rules and policies and participates in scheduled training.
  • Reports injuries and near misses promptly and in required detailed format; proposes corrective action.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directly supervises Production Planning employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Takes responsibility for safety within department and actively assesses hazards in their department and finds solutions to those hazards.
  • Reinforces a safety culture: leads by example, reminds employees to work safely, praises good behavior and safe practices, encourages suggestions, communicates consequences for unsafe acts, holds employees accountable, disciplines employees when warranted.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (BA) in engineering, management, logistics, industrial tech, or a related field from four-year college or university; and 2 to 3 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyzes and interpret such items as general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or simple governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, or procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions where a certain degree of tact and discretion is needed. Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on controversial or complex topics to such groups as top management and boards of directors.

QUANTITATIVE SKILLS

Very analytical, ability to comprehend the most complex financial principles. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.

Ability to use a computer to create highly customized spreadsheets and charts, run reports, and interpret data. Ability to analyze balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and the most detailed types of financial documents, and apply that information to make long-term, strategic decisions.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Good communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and organizational skills. Ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work within team concept.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel programs; familiarity with other business software.
  • Expert knowledge of the Materials Resource Planning (MRP) process.
  • Knowledge of market conditions and sources of supply/services, procurement laws and regulations. Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
