Friends of the Poor is Hiring a Marketing Development Coordinator Near Scranton, PA

Overview

Friends of the Poor (FOTP) seeks a Marketing/Development Coordinator to work closely with the administrative team, advancing the agency’s mission to bring together in friendship those with a desire to give with those in need of assistance to ease the burdens of living in poverty and enhance the quality of life for all. The Marketing/Development Coordinator is a key member of the FOTP team and often is the first point of contact for those reaching out to the administrative office. The primary focus of this position will be community outreach, event planning, marketing and communications including social media, website and newsletters.

Responsibilities

Fundraising

· Serve as liaison between FOTP administrative team and the Board’s Development Committee. Plan, participate and take minutes for all Board Development Committee meetings. Follow-up as appropriate.

· Oversee and provide support to the administrative team for the planning, launch, and execution of fundraising campaigns (NEPA Gives, Giving Tuesday, Stay at Home Ball, quarterly mailings, etc.), as well as working with CEO to create and implement new fundraising campaigns.

· Assist with proposal submissions, grant reports and deadlines. Conduct research on potential funders.

· Coordinate community fundraising events both large and small with the Board Development Committee and FOTP administrative team. (Occasional evening or weekend hours required.)

· Oversee event planning and preparation (RSVPs, order supplies, coordinate logistics, etc.).

· Assist with tracking post-event reconciliation to ensure appropriate follow-up items are completed (e.g., attendance reports, drafting and sending thank you emails, scheduling post-event meetings.)

· Responsible for database management, donation processing & fundraising operations, including gift processing, running donation reports, and reconciling deposits with financial office. Update donor records and contact notes. Support collaboration with the Finance department to process gifts, identify restricted and unrestricted gifts, and reconcile planned and remitted pledges.

· Work with CEO to coordinate, draft, and distribute donation solicitations, including designing and running queries from donor database.

· Prepares acknowledgements and pledge reminders.

Communications

· Collaborate with members of the administrative and programs teams to create presentations and grant reports for corporate partners, foundations, and other major donors.

· Create outreach strategies to promote the organization’s mission to the community.

· Manage and maintain website and all social media platforms to increase event participation and community engagement, including: creating and posting social media content, sharing relevant mission-based posts from other organizations, and responding to comments/messages/inquiries appropriately.

· Work with CEO to ensure consistent messaging and branding among all staff and board members.

· Create and maintain marketing and promotional materials, both print and electronic using Canva.

· Effectively market events and initiatives via press release, social media, local outreach etc.

· Draft media releases with CEO and maintain media directory

· Collect photos/videos throughout the year to be utilized for various marketing opportunities

· Assist with creation and implementation of regular newsletters.

· Liaise with the program departments to gather key program information and updates, including volunteer and participant stories and impact data that can be used to further the agency’s mission.

Administrative

· Track supply levels for items critical to the role’s success, such as letterhead, envelopes, ink, stamps, etc. Work with Director of Operations to order as necessary.

· Oversee student interns, worksite placement individuals, etc. assisting with administrative tasks.

· Act as liaison between FOTP and contracted media company regarding social media and website.

· Fill-in on office phones when assigned staff/volunteers call-out or are otherwise unavailable.

· Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

· Demonstrable experience in communications and fundraising, preferably in nonprofit sector.

· A willingness flex schedule to work evenings and weekends as needed for development activities.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt interpersonal and communication style to interact effectively with a wide variety of people.

· Experience creating content and working in all social media platforms.

· Previous experience with fundraising and donor management desired.

· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with computer software and applications.

· Ability to work well in a fast-paced and team-based environment.

· Able to work independently while managing multiple priorities, projects and deadlines.

· Ability to respectfully and kindly interact with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds.

· Ability to pass all background checks and maintain PA driver's license with clean driving record.

· This position is mainly sedentary but will occasionally require standing and lifting of up to 50 pounds.

This is a full-time, salaried position with benefits. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
