Obviously, we are looking for people with certain skills, and we will talk about those in just a bit. It is, however, just as important to us to find people with the right kind of attitude and work habits.

• We are looking for people who are punctual - people who show up on time and work straight through to quitting time.
• We are looking for people who are flexible. We try to systematize our kitchen procedures to keep food and mealtimes consistent. Often, however, our kitchen staff needs to respond to a variety of non-routine situations, so we need people who can work in a sometimes unpredictable setting.
• We are looking for people who are cheerful and pleasant. We work with the public, and staff members who cannot respond to our patrons with respect and willingness are of very little use to Friendly Pines Camp.
• We are looking for people who are conscientious. We do not need someone that only sees problems that are pointed out by someone else. We want people who can think!
• We are looking for people who are safe workers.
• We are looking for people who are honest. We can not tolerate staff members who lie, and/or steal equipment, food, or time. Just as a staff member has the right to expect that their employers will pay them the full amount on the correct date, Friendly Pines Camp has the right to expect a full and honest effort each and every day.
• We are looking for people who strive for excellence. Granted, time constraints often demand quick, temporary solutions to problems. But this should be the exception, not a way of life. We are looking for people who take pride in every job, whether they are setting a table, serving customers, mopping a floor, or washing pots.
• We are looking for people who are clean living. We deal with children and we expect our entire staff be good role models. We can not tolerate low moral and ethical standards from someone just because they are not directly involved with young people. We know that kids watch everything and everyone. And they learn extremely valuable lessons from a kitchen staff member who works hard, exhibits pride of workmanship, and sets for them high standards of behavior and performance.
• Please understand that to ensure the safety of all the children that attend Friendly Pines each summer, we must conduct a thorough background checks and drug tests on all applicants. Positions on our staff will only be offered to those who have a clean personal history.

The tasks of the Kitchen Support Staff

• Washing Dishes
• Washing Pots and Pans
• Setting the tables in the Dining Lodge
• Keeping the Dining Lodge and Kitchen clean
• Sweeping and mopping the Dining Lodge and Kitchen floors
• Some food prep work is possible

Some of the important minimal physical requirements of the job are as follows:

• Capable of working 6 days a week
• Be able to be on feet for 8 to 9 hour days
• Lift 25 lbs
• At least 16 years old (with ability to travel to camp)
• Able to work weekends

Pay: $14.35 - $15.35 per hour
