ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Program

· Assist with coordinating, planning, record keeping, implementing and evaluation of all aspects of the Friendly House Kid’s Corner Programs

· Develop a curriculum; including daily, weekly monthly schedules that meet the physical, social and emotional needs of 6-12 year olds.

· Responsible for the preparation, collection and accuracy of daily, weekly, monthly & quarterly statistics, attendance and outcomes measurements.

· Develop key partnerships with community programs ( i.e. boy/girl scouts ) to enrich program curriculum

· Serve as a primary assistant to the Youth Services Supervisor: cross-trained in assuming those responsibilities if the Youth Services Supervisor is unavailable.

· Responsible for supervising, coordinating, planning, record keeping, implementing and evaluation of all aspects of the Friendly House Kid’s Corner Youth Programs

· Ensure the program meets all the requirements for participation in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).

· Ensure that program policies and handbook are in compliance with all licensing standards and are being implemented in the program

· Responsible for the preparation, collection and accuracy of daily, weekly, monthly & quarterly statistics, attendance and outcomes measurements.

Direct Supervision

· Maintain an accurate count of all children at all times

· Provide direct supervision and interaction for daily activities of the children including meals, snacks, recreation, free time, outdoor play field trips and special activities

· Assist in the supervision and evaluation of all staff working in the preschool and youth programs. Work with Executive Director and Youth Services Supervisor to secure/maintain qualified staff

· Ensure that program staff are in compliance with Friendly House program and personnel policies

· Provide leadership, support and supervision for direct service staff ensuring they are meeting curriculum goals, licensing standards and mission values of the programs

· Ensure that appropriate professional development opportunities are made available to staff

Communication

· Develop and maintain positive relationships with families and providers of services for families (DHS, school districts, counseling and intervention services). Provide mediation and resolution when necessary. Document all special instructions that parents/guardians may provide

· Maintain timely written and verbal communication with child’s parents/guardians with regards to child

Safety

· Be familiar with Friendly House’s and the State of Iowa’s safety procedures

· Be familiar with the Friendly House Disaster Preparedness Plan

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Associates degree or higher in Education, Human Services or related field preferred and at least one year of experience in youth programming
  • Experience with Conscious Discipline curriculum and implementation preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
