Friendly House is Hiring an Afterschool Worker Near Davenport, IA

JSUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Youth Services Supervisor the Youth Worker will assist in the supervision of the Friendly House Kid’s Corner program, a licensed child care center, which is part of Friendly House of Davenport, Iowa. Duties include supervising youth during daily activities and snack, and implementing projects and activities. This position will drive a 15-passenger van to pick youth up from schools.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Program

· Assist in supervising, coordinating, planning, record keeping, implementing and evaluation of all aspects of the Friendly House Kid’s Corner Youth Programs.

· Assist with the preparation, collection and accuracy of daily, weekly, monthly & quarterly statistics, attendance and outcomes measurements.

Direct Supervision

· Maintain an accurate count of children at all times

· Provide direct supervision and interaction for daily activities of the children including meals, snacks, recreation, free time, outdoor play, field trips and special activities

Communication

· Maintain timely written and verbal communication with child’s parents/guardians with regards to child

· Document all special instructions that parents/guardians may provide

State and Friendly House Guidelines

  • Understand and adhere to all policies as outlined in the Friendly House Personnel Policies handbook
  • Meet licensing guidelines daily of Iowa Department of Human Services (DHS), Quality Rating System (QRS) and Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)
  • Attend in-service training and staff meets as requested
  • Meet all requirements of being a Youth Worker including training in First Aid/CPR, Universal Precautions, Child Abuse Reporting and other training that meet the hours required per year.

Safety

· Be familiar with Friendly House’s and the State of Iowa’s safety procedures

· Be familiar with the Friendly House Disaster Preparedness Plan

  • Education and training in early childhood development
  • Knowledge of human behavior and performance
  • Knowledge of policies, procedures and strategies

  • Ability to communicate information and ideas

  • Ability to be proactive when looking at the environment to ensure it meets best practice standard
  • Ability to drive a 15 passenger van and secure chauffer’s license
  • Ability to work with others to achieve goals and contribute to a positive working environment
  • Able to lift at least 50 pounds

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Prefer Associates degree in Education, Recreation, Human Services or related field and at least one year of experience in youth programming

  • Background Check/Fingerprinting

  • Mandatory Child Abuse
  • Safety Preparedness
  • Medical Exam and TB test
