Freedom Waters Foundation is Hiring an Executive Director Near Naples, FL

The Executive Director is the key management leader of Freedom Waters Foundation. The Executive Director is responsible for leading and overseeing the operations, administration, programs, and strategic plan of the organization. Other key duties include fundraising, marketing, community outreach. The Executive Director reports directly to the Board of Directors and is the liaison between staff and the Board of Directors.

Duties and Responsibilities

Board Governance: Work with the Board to fulfill the Freedom Waters Foundation’s mission.

  • Responsible for leading Freedom Waters Foundation in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission as defined by the Board of Directors.
  • Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.
  • Report to and work closely with the Board of Directors to seek their involvement in policy, decisions, fundraising and to increase the overall visibility of the organization.
  • Oversee organization Board and committee meetings.

Financial Performance and Viability: Develops resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization.

  • Responsible for fundraising and developing other revenues necessary to support Freedom Wates Foundation’s mission.
  • Responsible for the fiscal integrity of Freedom Waters Foundation, to include submission to the Board of a proposed annual budget and monthly financial statements, which accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization.
  • Responsible for fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position.
  • Responsible for planning and execution of annual budget.

Organization Mission and Strategy: Works with the Board and Staff to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning, and community outreach.

  • Responsible for implementation of Freedom Waters Foundation’s programs that carry out the organization’s mission.
  • Responsible for strategic planning to ensure that Freedom Waters Foundation can successfully fulfill its Mission into the future.
  • Responsible for the enhancement of Freedom Waters Foundation’s image by being active and viable in the community and by working closely with other professional, civic and private organizations.
  • Serve as Freedom Waters Foundation’s primary spokesperson to the organization’s constituents, media and the general public.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with various organizations and utilize those relationships to strategically enhance Freedom Waters Foundation’s Mission.
  • Engage in fundraising and developing other revenues.
  • Oversee marketing and other communication efforts.

Organization Operations: Oversees and implements appropriate resources to ensure that the operations of the organization are appropriate.

  • Work within a decentralized environment, manage the entire organization within budget and in accordance with its Vision, Mission, By-Laws, Policies & Procedures and Strategic Plan.
  • Responsible for the hiring and retention of competent, qualified staff.
  • Responsible effective administration of Freedom Waters Foundation’s operations.
  • Responsible for signing all notes, agreements and other instruments made and entered into and on behalf of the organization.
  • Responsible for hiring, training, supervising, and collaborating with the organization staff and volunteers.
  • Responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of volunteer program.
  • Establishing employment and administrative policies and procedures for all functions and for the day-to-day operation of the nonprofit.
  • Review and approve contracts for services.
  • Other duties assigned by the Board of Directors.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required with a concentration in financial development, marketing, business, social work, or communications preferred.
  • Master’s degree in social work is preferred.

Experience

  • Five or more years of senior nonprofit management experience.
  • A history of successfully generating new revenue streams and improving financial results.
  • Previous success in establishing relationships with individuals and organizations of influence including funders, partner agencies and volunteers.
  • Strong financial management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision making and reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff and volunteers.
  • Active fundraising experience.
  • Experience and skill in working with a Board of Directors

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • High level strategic thinking and planning. Ability to envision and convey the organization’s strategic future to the staff, board, volunteers and donors.
  • Ability to effectively communicate the organization’s mission to donors, volunteers and the overall community.
  • Solid organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong public speaking ability.
  • Excellent donor relations skills and understanding of the funding community.

Work Conditions

  • Position requires working in numerous locations which include varied temperature, noise level, and other factors that may affect a person’s working conditions while performing the job.

Position Type and Expected Working Hours:

  • Full-time. Expected working hours of approximately 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday, including evenings and weekends as needed.

Travel:

  • Travel up to 25% - South Florida and may include out of state travel as well, depending on program needs.

Physical Demands:

  • Bending, sitting, and standing for long periods of time. May require lifting objects weighing up to 20 lbs. as needed. Driving is required regularly.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications: Valid driver’s license, Level II background check, and drug-testing
