ABOUT US

Freedom Preparatory Academy Charter Schools (www.freedomprep.org) is a K-12 charter school in Memphis, TN. Our mission is to prepare all students in grades K-12 to excel in college and in life. Freedom Preparatory Academy opened in August of 2009 with a class of 96 6th graders. We now serve over 2,100 students in grades PreK-12. Our students have exceeded local and state averages in math and local averages in English language arts on the state exam.

Job Overview:

Freedom Prep Charter School is seeking an accomplished and strategic leader to fill the position of Regional Operations Manager - Alabama. This critical role encompasses providing executive-level support to the Executive Director, driving school expansion initiatives, fostering community engagement, and shaping policies that align with our mission and values, all with a throughline of excellent project management. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in enhancing the school's external relationships and contributing to its growth and influence.

Responsibilities:

Executive Support

•Provide comprehensive support to the Executive Director, managing schedules, engagements, and communication.

•Conduct research and prepare briefings and reports to aid decision-making processes for the Executive Director.

•Act as a liaison between the Executive Director and internal/external stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.

•Assist in the preparation of presentations, speeches, and materials for the Executive Director's engagements.

•Work effectively with network and regional teams, school leaders, staff and families to align on strategy, goals, plans, and processes, to achieve all regional goals.

School Expansion

•Drive the implementation of a strategic plan for school expansion, identifying viable growth opportunities aligned with the school's mission and vision.

•Collaborate with the leadership team to conduct feasibility studies, market research, and analysis to inform expansion plans.

•Engage and partner with school leaders on school-related responsibilities, such as safety, reauthorization and other charter/compliance-related meetings, neighborhood issues, and other concerns as they arise.

•With the Executive Director, lead the execution of expansion projects, overseeing timelines, budgets, and stakeholder communication.

•Cultivate partnerships and collaboration with relevant organizations to support and facilitate school growth initiatives.

Community Engagement

•Build and nurture positive relationships with parents, community leaders, business owners, policymakers, and all stakeholders to enhance community support for the school's mission.

•Design and implement community engagement initiatives that promote collaboration between the school and its surrounding community.

•Act as a spokesperson for the school, representing its values and goals at community events, forums, and meetings.

•Collaborate with the Executive Director, marketing and communications team to create effective messaging and materials that highlight the school's achievements and contributions to the community.

•Plan, coordinate and facilitate collaboration with other aligned organizations within the region to advocate for common goals or defend common interests.

Policy and Advocacy

•Stay informed about education policies and regulations at local, state, and federal levels, advocating for policies that align with the school's mission.

•Work closely with the leadership team to help shape and influence education policies that positively impact Freedom Prep Charter School - Alabama.

•Engage with policymakers, legislators, and education advocacy groups to represent the school's interests and contribute to policy discussions.

•Collaborate with external organizations to advocate for equitable policies that support the school's goals and the broader community.

Qualifications:

•A minimum of 7 years of experience in external affairs, executive support, or related fields.5 years of advocacy experience.

•Bachelor’s degree is required from an accredited college or university.

•Master’s degree preferred. Strong leadership and strategic planning skills.

•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with diverse stakeholders.

•Experience influencing others, coalition-building, and moving individuals from participants to champions.

•Knowledge of education policies and regulations.

•Knowledge of school operations. 

•Ability to analyze data, make informed decisions, and navigate complex policy landscapes.

•Has strong emotional intelligence and excellent relationship management skills working with a diverse set of stakeholders.

•Has an entrepreneurial spirit and growth mindset.

REPORTS TO: Executive Director-Alabama Region

PTO POLICY: Support Based Administrative

LOCATION: Birmingham or Montogmery, Alabama

$65,000 - $96,800 a year
The salary range posted is based on years of experience from year 1-21.
