Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) is Hiring a Facilities Engineering Program Manager Near Seattle, WA

The Facilities Engineer Program Manager position ensures that all compliance requirements are identified and met, that the utility management plan is kept current, and that compliance related work orders in the Engineering system are tracked and executed in a timely manner. This position also attends regular management meetings, weekly staff training, crew meetings, and serves on the Environment of Care (EOC) Committee, Water Management Committee, and other subcommittees as needed.

They will be responsible for management of compliance related PM procedures and an administrator for the CMMS system that serves the entire Facilities and Campus Operations organization.

This individual will also be available for all emergency response required by Fred Hutch and will stand in, on a rotational basis, as an On-Call Supervisor about once every 6 weeks.

This position will be 100% onsite at our South Lake Union Campus. 

Responsibilities

Compliance

  • Stay informed and knowledgeable about all compliance requirements originating from the cGMP, AAALAC, Joint Commission, DOH, CAP, risk insurance providers, Seattle Fire Department, and any other authorities having jurisdiction.
  • Ensure all engineering/maintenance related compliance requirements are met within the applicable timeframes.
  • Collaborate with key Clinic departments such as Infection Prevention, Life Safety, Medical Equipment, Clinical Operations etc. to determine accurate risk ratings, equipment maintenance categories, airflow/air pressure requirements and any other engineering equipment support requirements.
  • Ensure work orders and contracts are in place and executed to meet the compliance requirement of all AHJ’s.
  • Periodically review all compliance related work orders and contractor work for Quality Control
  • Provide documentation and support for all the above organizations on their annual, bi-annual or tri-annual inspection tours.
  • Coordinate and in some cases, lead the training of the Engineering staff to ensure that Engineering has the proper skill set to meet all compliance requirements.

Work Order Execution

  • Liaison with the clinical staff to have a understanding of priorities, work order execution expectations and hot or emergency projects to ensure needs and priorities are met in a timely manner.
  • In conjunction with engineering staff make the determination on execution strategies to meet key deadlines. Support contractor performance for engineering work, select contractors consistent with contract award policies, set up PO’s for contractors, QC and coordinate contractor work and approve invoices for payment
  • Participate in weekly management and work order meetings
  • Coordinate and in some cases, lead the training of the Engineering staff to ensure that they have the proper skill set to meet any and all Equipment Operation and Maintenance requirements.
  • Serves as an administrator on the CMMS system to support Engineering, Real Estate, GOS, EH&S,Construction, and other relevant groups.

Project Coordination

  • Ensure project support requirements are entered into the department calendar and coordinate far enough in advance for proper execution.
  • Support the Planner/Schedulers in identifying and coordinating outages that impact compliance related operations.
  • Review projects for ongoing operational compliance and maintainability.
  • Ensure all new pieces of equipment are entered into the CMMS system and the appropriate PM’s, critical spares and vendor contacts are also entered.
  • Ensure sure that Facilities Engineering staff are properly trained in system specific tasks for compliance related work.
  • Ensure Engineering Related PCRA activities are completed in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate or approve Fire System impairments as needed.

Clinic/cGMP Facility

  • Participate in design meetings ensuring that maintainability is carefully considered and incorporated.
  • Review drawings to ensure compliance related Engineering requests are incorporated.
  • Assist in reviewing submittals.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related field is required unless advanced skills and experience can be demonstrated as equivalent to education requirement.
  • Four or more years of increasing responsibilities at the professional level in HVAC, Controls and Plumbing engineering design with knowledge of maintenance and operations for large bio-medical research or hospital facilities is required.
  • Experience with Joint Commission and DOH Inspections.
  • Strong management and leadership skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Strong computer skills in a Windows environment including Microsoft Office

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • American Society of Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) Certified Hospital Facility Manager (CHFM) designation.
  • Four or more years of increasing responsibilities in facilities maintenance and operations for a large bio-medical research, hospital, heavy manufacturing facilities or other equipment intensive zero downtime operation.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $99,445 to $157,144, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
