Franklin Road Academy is Hiring a Communications Coordinator Near Nashville, TN

Position Purpose:

The communications coordinator will assist the director of communications in maintaining the FRA brand, creating awareness, and promoting the school’s mission through storytelling. This position is responsible for writing and editing content for all marketing materials, developing and implementing a social media strategy and calendar, and working with members of the marketing/communications team to provide a consistent voice and brand message.

Responsibilities:

Written Communications:

  • Maintain FRA brand in all internal and external communications
  • Serve as project manager for the 4700 magazine and philanthropy report, including conceptualization and content creation along with executing all stories and photos
  • Interview students, faculty, alumni, and parents for stories to be featured in the 4700 magazine and for social media, website, and videos
  • Assist in editing all marketing materials, fundraising initiatives such as donor reports, letters, alumni outreach, and the bi-annual 4700 magazine
  • Partner with the director of marketing and communications to write press releases for school announcements and initiatives, as well as academics, arts, athletics, and community service

Social Media:

  • Develop and execute a social media strategy to grow the school’s audience and boost engagement
  • Identify emerging social media trends
  • Manage and regularly update content across all owned social media platforms
  • Work with the digital communications strategist to tell the FRA story through social media ads and graphics
  • Manage social media advisory group, ensuring all divisions are represented; track analytics on each platform
  • Moderate all user-generated content
  • Create editorial calendars and content schedules across each platform in collaboration with the Director of Marketing and Communications and the Assistant Head of School for External Affairs
  • Capture and analyze appropriate social data/metrics, insights, and best practices, and utilize data for continued improvement
  • Collaborate with other departments (admissions, alumni, and development) to manage reputation, create content, identify key players, and coordinate actions

Digital Production:

  • Photograph school activities for use on social media and marketing materials
  • Serve as project manager on video or photo shoots, write scripts, ensure all needed footage is captured, and film and edit in-house video projects
  • Assist the communications office with graphic design projects as needed

Other Duties:

  • Provide staffing support for community events held during the day and some evenings, as needed

· Participate in the community outside of the communications office (i.e. assist with a sport or sponsor a club)

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or related field
  • 2-3 years of experience in marketing, public relations, or non-profit organization
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills are required (strong familiarity with AP Style preferred)
  • Knowledge of social media content and strategy
  • Working knowledge of Adobe InDesIgn, Photoshop, Premier Pro, Illustrator, and Canva
  • Ability to interview our students, faculty, alumni, and donors and tell their stories
  • Basic photography/videography skills preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Attention to detail is a must
  • Highly organized, self-directed business style, with a strong ability to prioritize and meet multiple, competing deadlines
  • Enthusiastic, flexible, efficient, tech savvy, collaborative, and joyful
