Overview

This is a part-time teaching position as an elementary school teacher in 3rd or 4th grade. We operate similar to a junior high, but for elementary aged students. The teacher meets with students for about 3 hours daily and has about 2.5 hours for prep and parent contact.

A Day in the Life:

You will:

• Conduct "Foundations" class, a 90 minute session with all students. Foundations includes community building activities and computer time.
• Conduct "FoxDen" classes twice per day. These are small group classes (5-7 students) where the mentor will interview students, set goals, discuss progress, etc.
• Work collaboratively with students, teachers, administrators, and parents.
• Actively participate in continued professional development activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skill Set:

(These are the minimum skills required to qualify to apply for this position)

• Must hold, or be eligible to hold, an associate or professional Utah educator's license. An LEA specific license will be considered for an exceptional candidate.
• A full Utah professional educator's license is preferred.
• Applicants without a professional or associate's license will be considered. The rate for an LEA specific license is $22 per hour.
• Must have a bachelor's degree. Teacher's in an elementary education program with less than 18 months left in the program will also be considered.
• The ability to teach groups of K-6 students in groups of 15-25 students.
• The ability to use standard learning technologies.
• Express yourself clearly and effectively.
• Listen to and understand information and ideas presented.
• Express information clearly in writing. Use proper organization and grammar.
• Communicate with students in a multimedia environment.
• Perform essential duties and responsibilities efficiently, accurately and safely, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Communicate professionally and consistently with parents.

Background Checks:

Because you will be working around children, you will be required to:

• Pass eVerify check
• If not licensed in Cactus, ability to pass an FBI level fingerprint background check. Please Note: Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the applicant’s successful passage of a background check.

Position Level and Details:

• Hourly: starting at $25.00 per hour for an associate license, $27.50 for a professional license, $22.00 for a LEA Specific license
• Position Type: part-time, hourly
• Reports To: Director of Teaching
• Working Hours: A 5.5 hour daily shift Monday through Friday.
• Work Calendar: School-year (August 1 through June 30), plus additional days for professional development
