Overview

The Village at Mercy Creek, a part of Franciscan Ministries, is a vibrant senior assisted living community in Normal, Illinois. We offer seniors Independent Living and Assisted Living support services. Our vision of service at Franciscan Ministries is to provide excellent, person-centered customer service, designed to help our residents experience the fullness of their lives and celebrate each day wherever they find themselves on life’s journey.

We are looking for Full Time Cook to become a key member of the dining team tasked with providing nutritious high quality food to support a truly great dining experience for our residents.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares food daily as outlined on the menus. Alters or adapts recipes to accommodate special dietary needs of residents or to improve recipes. Ensures attractive presentation of food on the plate before serving.
  • Coordinates and participates in serving food. Monitors portion control to meet residents' requests and minimize waste.
  • Assists with menu planning; reviews and adjusts menus with Director of Dining Services to accommodate foods in season, vendor sale prices, special events and holidays.
  • Assists in identifying food and supplies needed for the next week's menus and reports to the Director of Dining Services. Prepares meats for storage and portion control upon delivery; ensures proper storage of all delivered foods and ingredients.
  • Keep track of and order supplies.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Some college or culinary school experience preferred but not required.
  • Residential/Commercial cooking experience.
  • At least one year cooking experience preferred.
