People who understand the role nutrition takes in health care and healing are becoming more and more necessary. Patient nutrition assessments and care plans need to be developed by knowledgeable clinical dieticians. Dieticians who can also communicate those plans to the care team and educate the patient and family about them. There's no doubt that clinical dieticians are a key team member in the health care offered at Franciscan Health - a place where we believe that faith is part of everyone's healing.

Do you enjoy assessing patient needs and developing plans that meet those needs and regulatory guidelines? If so, we have a special place for you to work.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Assess patient nutritional needs, diet restrictions and develop a dietary care plan.
  • Counsel individuals and groups on basic rules of proper nutrition, healthy eating habits, and nutrition monitoring to improve quality of life.
  • Advise patients and their families on nutritional principles, dietary plans and diet modifications, and food selection and preparation.
  • Consult with physicians and Healthcare personnel to determine nutritional needs and diet restrictions of patient or client.
  • Provide nutritional counseling on special diets to ensure proper preparation and consumption of nourishment.
  • Plans and conducts special need group sessions for weight reduction and control.
WHAT IT TAKES TO SUCCEED
  • Lead and coach others.
  • Basic skills with computer software, hardware, and communication devices to perform tasks.
  • Convince others in difficult or challenging situations.
  • Identify and understand patterns and relationships between numbers.
  • Knowledge of terminology used in diagnosis and classification of illnesses, injuries, and disabilities.
  • Facilitate and lead meetings.
  • Knowledge of typical and atypical human systems and development.
  • Critically evaluate and analyze information in written materials.
  • Deliver presentations and public speaking engagements.
  • Develop effective relationships with patients, hospital departments, and other external parties.
  • Interpret test results and formulate reports.
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
