GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

The Office Assistant reports directly to the Administrative Assistant II in Facilities Office and assists with the following tasks:

• Answer the office telephone and provide assistance to callers
• Using the database software, input and print work orders
• Using the database software, update and close work orders
• Maintain the facilities office in an organized manner
• Contact facilities staff as required via push to talk and/or cell phones
• Assist with electronic communication with campus departments
• Perform filing, copying, and other office duties as requested

WORKING CONDITIONS:

General office environment. Employee will primarily work seated at a desk and using a computer, phone, and other general office equipment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to follow through on assignments with minimal supervision
• Experience and competence using Excel, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint
• Experience and competence using email and the web
• Ability to handle stressful emergency situations via telephone and in person
• Ability to work successfully in a diverse community
• Professional competence
• Experience with database software systems preferred but not required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates who are bilingual in English and Spanish or English and Portuguese are strongly encouraged to apply.

This is a part-time, non-benefited, contract position, not to exceed 18 hours per week. Must be able to schedule regular weekly hours between 1 pm and 5 pm, Monday-Friday. The pay rate is $20.00 per hour.
