Fraser is seeking an Employment Specialist to join our Career Planning & Employment division. This position supports individuals with disabilities in finding appropriate community options for employment and in teaching the necessary skills related to Career Planning and Employment Services.

Responsibilities:

Provide excellent support for individuals to participate in their community work or post-secondary environments, providing coaching and mentoring while teaching necessary skills related to employment, career path development and the essential functions of their job. This position is going to support teaching pre-employment skills in high schools or with individuals who are high school or post-secondary age. Our staff go into a high schools 1-2 hours per week and teach skills to a transition classroom whose teacher is present. They also meet individually in the community, at job sites or virtually to support employment skill development, post-secondary success and on the job success. 

Employment Specialists may support client employment needs by:

  • Conducting individual assessments and informational interviews
  • Providing on-site job coaching and communicating with employers
  • Advising on job shadowing and placement opportunities
  • Working with individuals on resume development, preparing for interviews, skill development and job exploration
  • Maintaining documentation and file posting
  • Working collaboratively throughout Fraser to support individuals and program development for the Career Planning and Employment Services department. 
  • Communicating with employment team to insure coordination of employment plans.

Location and Schedule:

This is a Full-time position and will be working out of our Fraser Bloomington office, with some remote workdays possible. This position also will include regular travel to metro locations throughout the Twin Cities for job coaching, informational interviews and on-site teaching. Mileage and parking are reimbursed for travel to client meeting sites. Employment Specialists do not transport clients to and from work. 

Flexible Hours

Requirements:

  • Valid MN driver's license with acceptable record required.
  • Combination of education and work experience in Special Education, Psychology, Social Services, or Human services or related.
  • Ability to pass DHS criminal background study required.
  • Fluency in the English language including excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills required.
  • Basic mathematical skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and calculate percentages required.
  • Commitment to promoting diversity, multiculturalism and inclusion with focus on culturally responsive practice, internal self-awareness and reflection.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Combination of education and work experience in Special Education, Psychology, Social Services, or Human services or related.
  • 1 years of experience providing related services to individuals with disabilities preferred.
