The Fund for Public Health in New York City (FPHNYC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is dedicated to the advancement of the health and well-being of all New Yorkers. To this end, in partnership with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), FPHNYC incubates innovative public health initiatives implemented by DOHMH to advance community health throughout the city. It facilitates partnerships, often new and unconventional, between government and the private sector to develop, test, and launch new initiatives. These collaborations speed the execution of demonstration projects, effect expansion of successful pilot programs, and support rapid implementation to meet the public health needs of individuals, families, and communities across New York City. PROGRAM OVERVIEWEstablished in 1805, the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) is the country's oldest and largest health department. DOHMH strives to protect and promote the health of all New Yorkers. With a vision to be a city where all New Yorkers can realize their full health potential, regardless of who they are, where they are from, or where they live, our core values are science, equity, and compassion. DOHMH has been a hub for public health innovation, expertise, and resources. From food policy to tobacco, HIV/AIDS, family child health, environmental health, mental health, and racial justice work, DOHMH’s impact on public policy across the nation has been vast. The Division of Disease Control (DIS) is the infectious disease arm of DOHMH and includes seven bureaus, including the Bureau of Public Health Clinics (BPHC). BPHC is the division's direct care provider, operating 8 sexual health clinics, 4 tuberculosis chest centers, and multiple COVID quickie clinics. This role will directly support the tuberculosis chest centers and patients receiving care at these clinics. Hours of operation are Monday- Friday 9 am-5 pm. Site locations are Corona Chest Clinic- 34-33 Junction Boulevard, QN NY 11372, Morrisania Chest Clinic- 1309 Fulton Avenue, BX NY 10456, and Fort Greene - 295 Flatbush Extension, BK NY 11201 POSITION OVERVIEWThe Bureau of Public Health Clinics (BPHC) seeks two (2) X-ray technicians to support clinical activities across four (4) Tuberculosis Chest Centers in New York City. These individuals will be responsible for conducting X-rays on patients at various BPHC clinics, supporting the training of newly hired X-ray techs, and maintaining quality control of X-ray machines. This position will be located at the primary site but may be required to travel to other chest center locations or the DOHMH central office as needed. RESPONSIBILITIESTakes X-ray per order from a licensed physician using the principle of ALARA (“As Low As Reasonably Achievable”).Prepares and positions patients for taking X-Ray pictures according to standard procedures or as prescribed by a physician.Executes the proper digital radiography (DR) and synapse protocols.Completes patients’ X-ray by correctly using radiation equipment.Serves as a lead technologist in absence of supervising X-ray TechnologistSupervises/Assists/Assesses lower-level technologist workResponse to low to medium level issuesPrepares assignment schedules for lower X-ray Technologist to ensure systemwide coverageMaintains operational records and prepares reports as neededAssist in training new/lower-level X-ray TechnologistsMaintains safety procedures for X-ray equipment.Maintains the DR an X-ray equipment before and after use.Effectively assess patient’s information or status.Uses standard procedures to identify the correct patient using at least to identifier (full name, DOB, etc.); inputs or corrects demographics data in RIS.Performs daily quality control and quality assurance at assigned X-ray suites. Uses PACS/RIS to process patients and X-rays.Works independently on the song ordinary problems and assigns X-ray Smith.Creates service request tickets to IT or PACS/RIS vendors as needed.Read the radiation dose device monthly; make proper notification to the supervisor if there are issues with readings. QUALIFICATIONS2 or more years’ experience working as an x-ray technician.Prior experience using PACS/RIS.Comfortable using an Electronic medical record.Microsoft suite Word, excel, outlook.Bi-lingual preferred.Good commutation skills. CompensationThis is an hourly paid temporary position at $46.00 per hour, 35 hours per week.
