A day in the life of the Staff Accountant may include:

  • Preparing assigned balance sheet reconciliations such as travel payables and accounts receivable.
  • Preparing journal entries to process group travel transactions to include accruals of work in process.
  • Preparing and posting journal entries for month end closing.
  • Reconciling corporate travel credit card statements.
  • Reconciling commission receipts and reporting any discrepancies.
  • State Taxes:
    • Preparing and paying sales and use tax.
    • Unclaimed property.
  • Assisting accounts receivable functions.
  • Assisting internal and external customers with various inquiries.
  • Various ad hoc financial reporting and accounting analysis projects as required.
  • Maintaining a favorable and collaborative working relationship with team members in all departments to foster an environment of trust and mutual respect.
  • Enhancing the organization’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Updating knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks.
  • Maintaining a favorable and collaborative working relationship with co-workers in all departments to foster an environment of trust and mutual respect. Driving standards and best practices whenever possible and effectively foster a culture of engagement.
  • Enhancing the organization’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Being innovative and recommending new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of operations and services performed.
  • Other duties, projects and alternate assignments as determined by business need.

This opportunity might be for you if you have:

  • Associate degree in accounting (preferred).
  • At least 5 years of previous accounting experience in a mid-level or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge and demonstrated proficiency in all Microsoft Office Applications; advanced proficiency in Excel and Access.
  • Demonstrated understanding of accounting controls and the maintenance of an appropriate control environment.
  • Ability to handle financial detail with a high degree of accuracy; prioritize and meet time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills.
  • Well-developed team skills, unquestioned integrity, and the experience, confidence, and presence to effectively handle sensitive financial information.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities while demonstrating ability to remain flexible in a changing work environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability to work flexible hours within scheduled shift (weekdays, 7:00am – 5:30pm CST).
  • Proficient knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP), economic principles, and auditing practices and principles.
  • Self-motivation; demonstrates initiative with a strong commitment to personal goals, objectives and work ethic.

Occasional business travel, overnight stay may be required for training events and to visit Fox World Travel locations.

The incumbent may occasionally be required to lift up to 50 pounds

Incumbent must be able to travel by airplane, rail, boat and/or car at any given time as required by the position. Ability to drive to client and company locations.

For On-site and Hybrid Associates: Regular attendance is necessary to successfully perform this job; extended hours may be necessary from time to time. The incumbent works in an office environment where the noise level is low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment including but not limited to computers, a headset, a mouse, a keyboard, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

For Work-At-Home Associates: Regular attendance is necessary to successfully perform this job; extended hours may be necessary from time to time. This role routinely uses standard office equipment including but not limited to computers, a headset, a mouse, and a keyboard.

Occasional business travel, overnight stay may be required – up to 15%. Ability to drive to home inspection locations, if required.
