Job Title: SAIS DATA Technician

Classification: Support Personnel Pay Scale

Range: V

Description: The SAIS Data Technician provides a systematic collection, coordination, implementation, and support for the District data processing systems and assures the District student data is in compliance with the Arizona Department of Education Student Accountability Information System (SAIS).

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required
  • Valid Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Coursework/training equivalent to associate’s degree is preferred
  • Prior work experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of the English language including reading, writing and oral communication
  • Knowledge of technology including computers (Word, Excel, Access), copiers, fax machines and other applicable office equipment
  • Knowledge of mathematics and basic data/accounting procedures
  • Knowledge of spreadsheet programs and other types of software to produce reports
  • Strong organizational skills including ability to handle confidential matters
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to present information to internal and external clients
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and follow through on assignments.
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills when dealing with others
  • Must be an energetic, highly ethical and possess good emotional and physical health

Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Governing Board or the Superintendent may deem appropriate

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with electronic data processing, including data analysis and computer operations regarding district business operations and student detail record keeping
  • Transmit student detail data to the Department of Education in compliance with state law and monitors state reports for errors to advise responsible personnel of problems
  • Ensure student counts are correct for all Federal and State funding by balancing district and state reports on a routine basis
  • Oversee the inputting of student information by school and departmental personnel for data accuracy
  • Perform data queries for schools and departments as requested
  • Retrieve, separate and sort program output as needed and send data to specified users.
  • Use relevant information to determine whether data information is in compliance with State and Federal laws, regulations or standards
  • Provide assistance and consultant services to all staff utilizing data processing services
  • Disaggregate and analyze district and state student assessment data and provide information to schools and district departments
  • Collaborate with Language Acquisition and Special Education Departments to verify and validate annual state student achievement data
  • Assign bar coding for benchmark testing
  • Roll over student data to new year
  • Check source data in order to verify its completeness and accuracy
  • Work with attendance clerks and secretaries in order to correct data entry errors
  • Compare reports from student management system to reports at state level and correct inaccuracies.
  • Compile reports, charts, and graphs that describe and interpret findings of analyses.
  • Export data from student management system for miscellaneous reports
  • Participate in district sponsored professional development workshops/inservices, attend on-going training classes and meetings as directed, and read professional journals and publications, etc. for continued professional development
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and use appropriate discretion when working with all district personnel and student and family records and/or information
  • Support and follow the rules, regulations and policies set by the School Board and the District
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Governing School Board, the Superintendent for Business Services or his/her designee

Length of Employment:

  • Twelve (12) months

Reports to: Assistant Superintendent of Business Services

Evaluation: Performance to be evaluated in accordance with Governing Board Policy GDO
